## My actual recommendations, in order **1. 1Password Business - $7.99/user/mo** (annual). This is what I'd recommend to most small businesses without a dedicated IT person. The admin console is the easiest to actually use, shared vaults map cleanly onto teams ("Finance," "Marketing"), and it has the best onboarding/offboarding story - recovery when someone loses their laptop, enforced account recovery, and clean credential handoff when someone quits. Also SOC 2 Type II with published third-party pen tests. You pay a premium, and it's usually worth it because the thing people actually abandon is a password manager that's annoying. Free family plan for every employee is a real perk. There's also a Teams Starter Pack at a flat ~$19.95/mo for up to 10 users, which is a great deal for very small shops. **2. Bitwarden Teams - $4/user/mo** (Enterprise $6). Best value, and my pick if your team is technically comfortable. Open source, annual third-party audits (Cure53, ISE), and you can self-host if you want. The UI is less polished than 1Password and admin workflows are more manual, but functionally it does nearly everything for roughly half the price. Enterprise tier adds SSO and policy enforcement if you need it. **3. Keeper Business - ~$3.75-5/user/mo**. The cheapest option that still has serious admin controls, granular role-based enforcement, and compliance reporting. Worth a look if you're in a regulated industry (healthcare, finance) or need to answer auditor questions - their compliance paperwork is strong. Add-ons (dark web monitoring, secrets management, privileged access) cost extra and the quoted price climbs quickly, so get an actual quote. **4. Proton Pass Business** - My pick if you're EU-based or privacy posture is a selling point for your clients. Swiss jurisdiction, Cure53-audited, open-source clients, and it bundles sensibly if you're already on Proton Mail for business. Younger product than the three above, so the admin feature set is thinner. **5. NordPass Business - ~$3.99/user/mo**. Easy to deploy, cheap, SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001, good if you want "cheap and simple" and don't need deep policy controls. Less mature admin tooling than Keeper at a similar price. **Honorable mentions:** **Dashlane Business** (~$8/user/mo) is solid but hard to justify over 1Password at the same price. **Zoho Vault** is very cheap and makes sense if you're already a Zoho shop. **The one I'd skip: LastPass.** It was the default recommendation for years, but the 2022 breach exfiltrated customer vault data and the disclosure was handled badly. There's no reason to choose it now when the alternatives above cost the same or less. ## Two things that matter more than the pick - **Enforce 2FA from day one and get the whole team onto it in the first week.** A password manager nobody finished setting up is worse than nothing, because people assume they're covered. - **Check whether SSO is in the tier you're buying.** It's often gated to Enterprise (Bitwarden) or priced as an add-on, and that's the thing that quietly doubles the bill as you grow past ~25 people. One caveat on the numbers: these are list prices as published, and a lot of the "best of 2026" roundups in search results are affiliate content with inconsistent figures. Verify on the vendors' own pricing pages before you buy, and note that anything above ~50 seats is negotiable.
