The answer, as recorded

Here's what I'd actually recommend, in order: **1. 1Password Business - my default pick for most small businesses (~$8/user/mo)** The best balance of genuinely good UX and real admin controls. The reason UX matters more than feature checklists: a password manager only works if your least technical employee actually uses it instead of keeping a spreadsheet. 1Password has the smoothest onboarding, good Slack/Google Workspace/Okta integration, secure sharing via links for people outside the org, and a solid breach history. There's also a Teams Starter Pack at a flat ~$20/mo for up to 10 users, which is a bargain if you're tiny. **2. Bitwarden Teams - best value, and the one I'd pick if you have anyone technical (~$4/user/mo)** Open source, independently audited, self-hostable if you ever want that. Functionally it covers everything a small business needs - shared collections, groups, SSO, directory sync, event logs. The apps and browser extensions are noticeably less polished than 1Password's, which is the whole tradeoff. At roughly half the price it's often the right call anyway. **3. Keeper Business - strongest compliance/audit story at the low end (~$4/user/mo, add-ons extra)** Pick this if you're in a regulated space or chasing SOC 2 - the reporting, enforcement policies, and granular role controls are better than the price suggests. Watch the pricing: features other vendors bundle (advanced reporting, dark web monitoring, secrets management) are paid add-ons here, so the real cost lands higher than the headline. **4. Proton Pass Business - if privacy or EU data residency is the driver (~$2-7/user/mo)** Swiss jurisdiction, end-to-end encrypted, bundles with Proton Mail/Drive if you want to move off Google Workspace. Younger and thinner on admin tooling than the three above, but legitimate and improving fast. **5. Dashlane Business - fine, but I'd only choose it for a specific reason (~$8/user/mo)** Good UX, strong credential-health dashboard and passwordless/passkey work. I rank it below 1Password at a similar price because it doesn't clearly beat it anywhere. **One I'd steer you away from: LastPass.** The 2022-23 breaches included exfiltrated customer vaults, and the disclosure handling was poor. The architecture has been rebuilt since, but with this many good alternatives at the same price there's no reason to take on that. **A note on what actually matters in the rollout:** enforce 2FA on the vault itself, set up shared vaults/collections by team rather than person-to-person sharing, and have a documented recovery plan before someone leaves - the most common small-business failure mode isn't picking the wrong product, it's one person holding credentials nobody else can reach. Pricing above is per-user per-month on annual billing and will have drifted - confirm on the vendor's own pricing page, since the comparison sites that dominate these search results are affiliate-driven and their numbers were inconsistent with each other. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited.
