The answer, as recorded
# Best password managers for small businesses Here's how I'd rank them for a small team, and why: **1. 1Password Business - $7.99/user/mo (annual); Teams Starter Pack $19.95/mo flat for up to 10 users** My default recommendation. It's the one your non-technical employees will actually use correctly, which matters more than any feature list - a password manager people bypass is worthless. Strong admin controls, shared vaults that make sense, solid breach/weak-password reporting, and SSO integration. If you're under 10 people, the $19.95 flat Starter Pack is excellent value. The knock is price at scale. **2. Bitwarden Teams - $4/user/mo (Enterprise $6/user/mo)** Best value, and open source with published audits. Enterprise tier adds SSO, directory sync, and a free Families plan for each employee - a real perk. Self-hosting is available if you want the vault on your own infrastructure. The UI is noticeably less polished than 1Password, so it fits teams that are reasonably tech-comfortable. **3. Keeper Business - from roughly $2-3.75/user/mo, often quote-based** The strongest compliance story of the budget options: good audit logging, granular role enforcement, FedRAMP authorization, and add-on secrets management. Worth a look if you're pursuing SOC 2 or have regulatory requirements. Pricing is less transparent, so get a quote. **4. Proton Pass Business - Essentials from $1.99/user/mo, Professional $4.85/user/mo** Cheapest credible option, and the pick if privacy posture or EU data residency matters to you. Professional tier includes SSO, SCIM, and activity logs. Includes unlimited email aliases and a built-in 2FA authenticator. It's the newest of these products, so the admin tooling is thinner than 1Password's or Keeper's. **5. Dashlane Business** Reasonable middle ground for a 10-50 person company - good onboarding, decent admin dashboard, built-in VPN. I rarely reach for it over the four above, but it's a legitimate choice. **One I'd avoid:** LastPass. The 2022 breaches exposed encrypted customer vaults, and despite the architecture rebuild, I don't think the trust gap justifies choosing it when the alternatives above are this good. **Practical advice:** if you're under 10 people and want this decided in 20 minutes, buy the 1Password Teams Starter Pack. If budget is tight or you have engineers on staff, Bitwarden. Either way, turn on SSO/SCIM if you have Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 so offboarding actually revokes access, and run the built-in breach report in week one - it usually finds reused credentials on your most sensitive accounts. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
