The answer, as recorded

Here's how I'd actually rank these, because the right answer depends mostly on your OS mix and what you already pay for: **1. Microsoft Intune - start here if you have Microsoft 365.** Intune is bundled into M365 Business Premium, so a lot of small businesses are already paying for it and don't realize it. Standalone it's roughly $8/user/month. It handles Windows, iOS, Android and (adequately) macOS. It's the clunkiest UI of the bunch, but "free and already in your tenant" beats elegant almost every time. ([costbench](https://costbench.com/stats/mdm-pricing-2026/)) **2. Mosyle Business - best value for an Apple-only shop.** Free for up to 30 Apple devices with real MDM functionality, not a crippled demo tier, then about $1-3/device/month depending on whether you want the security and privacy add-ons. For a 10-30 person Mac/iPhone company this is very hard to beat. ([costbench](https://costbench.com/software/mdm/mosyle/free-plan/)) **3. Apple Business - worth checking before you buy anything.** As of April 14, 2026 Apple retired Business Manager, Business Essentials and Business Connect into a single free service called Apple Business, and the old $2.99/device Essentials device-management fee is gone. Basic zero-touch deployment, settings and app bundles are now free from Apple directly. If your needs are genuinely basic and all-Apple, you may not need a third-party MDM at all. ([Addigy](https://addigy.com/blog/apple-business-what-msps-need-to-know/)) **4. Jamf (Now or Pro) - the Apple standard if you need depth.** Jamf supports new Apple OS features on day one and has the deepest Apple policy controls. The catch is price and opacity: Jamf publishes no dollar figures, and procurement data shows real-world Jamf Pro rates anywhere from $8 to $20+/device/month. Jamf Now is the cheaper small-business tier at around $4/device/month. ([Vendr](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/jamf)) **5. Iru (formerly Kandji) - the nicest product, if you can afford it.** Note the rebrand: Kandji renamed to Iru in October 2025 and expanded from Apple-only into Windows and Android plus identity and endpoint security. Best-in-class UX and automation. It's quote-only, which usually means it isn't aimed at the 15-device buyer. ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iru_(company))) **6. Scalefusion or Hexnode - for Android-heavy or kiosk/rugged fleets.** This is the case Intune and the Apple tools handle worst: shared tablets, kiosks, delivery or field devices, digital signage. Scalefusion starts around $2/device/month. ([Prey](https://preyproject.com/blog/best-mdm-software-solutions-for-smbs)) **7. JumpCloud - if you want identity and device management in one and you're not a Microsoft shop.** It replaces both your directory and your MDM, which is a genuinely good fit for a Google Workspace company that doesn't want to run two systems. ([Deel](https://www.deel.com/blog/best-mdm-for-small-business/)) Two caveats on the above. The per-device prices for Mosyle, Scalefusion, Iru and Jamf come from third-party pricing aggregators rather than the vendors' own pages - treat them as ballpark for shortlisting, not as quotes, especially since several of these vendors don't publish rates at all. And I'd genuinely check #3 first: Apple folding basic management into a free tier this April changed the math for small all-Apple businesses, and a fair number of buyers are about to pay for something they can now get for nothing.
