Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd suggest you evaluate them: **1. Apple Business (free) - if your fleet is all Mac/iPhone/iPad and your needs are basic.** Apple killed Business Essentials, Business Manager, and Business Connect on April 14, 2026 and merged them into one free platform called Apple Business that now includes built-in MDM. The old $2.99-$12.99/user/month Essentials fee is gone. For a small shop that needs enrollment, app distribution, passcode/FileVault enforcement, and remote wipe, this is the obvious first stop - try it before you pay anyone. It's thin on advanced policy, compliance reporting, and patch automation, so you'll outgrow it if you have real security requirements. ([TechRadar](https://www.techradar.com/pro/weve-unified-apples-strongest-business-offerings-into-one-simple-secure-platform-apple-business-will-now-offer-mdm-upgraded-icloud-storage-and-more-plus-the-option-to-put-ads-in-maps), [Appaloosa review](https://www.appaloosa.io/blog/apple-business-platform-free-mdm-review)) **2. Microsoft Intune - if you're already on Microsoft 365.** Intune Plan 1 is bundled into Microsoft 365 Business Premium ($22/user/month), so if you're already paying for that, your MDM is free and sits in the same admin console as your identity, email, and Defender policies. Standalone Intune Plan 1 is $8/user/month. Best choice for mixed Windows/Android/Apple fleets. The tradeoff is a steeper admin learning curve than the Apple-native tools. ([TrustedTech](https://www.trustedtechteam.com/blogs/microsoft-365/microsoft-intune-cost)) **3. Mosyle - best value for Apple-only small businesses.** Free for up to 30 devices, Business Premium around $1/device/month, Fuse at $1.50/iOS and $3/macOS. It does substantially more than Apple Business (automated app patching, encryption management, identity) at a price that's hard to argue with. This is my pick if Apple Business isn't enough and you're cost-sensitive. ([SpotSaaS MDM pricing](https://www.spotsaas.com/blog/mdm-pricing)) **4. Iru (formerly Kandji) - the premium Apple pick.** Kandji rebranded to Iru in late 2025/2026 and expanded beyond Apple into Windows and Android. Around $1.60/device/month for iOS/iPadOS and $3.20 for macOS, with EDR as a paid add-on; they quote most deals. Worth it for the auto-remediating "Blueprints" compliance model and polished UX if you have no dedicated IT person and want things to self-heal. ([Spendflo pricing guide](https://www.spendflo.com/blog/kandji-pricing-guide), [docs.iru.com brand update](https://docs.iru.com/en/iru/platform-overview/iru-brand-update)) **5. Scalefusion - if you have Android, kiosks, or rugged/shared devices.** From ~$2/device/month up to ~$12.42 for higher tiers. It's the one I'd name for retail, logistics, field service, or anything needing kiosk lockdown and Android Enterprise depth, where the Apple-centric tools don't compete. ([Costbench](https://www.costbench.com/software/mdm/scalefusion/alternatives/)) **6. Jamf Now / Jamf Pro - the Apple incumbent.** Jamf Now is the simplified SMB tier for zero-touch Apple setup; Jamf runs roughly $5.75/mobile device and $12.50/Mac, with Pro at $4-$12.50. It's the deepest and most battle-tested Apple management platform, but for a small business it's usually more product and more money than you need versus Mosyle or Iru. ([G2 Jamf Now pricing](https://g2.com/products/jamf-now/pricing)) Short version: start with Apple Business if you're all-Apple, Intune if you're already paying for M365 Business Premium, Mosyle if you need more than free at the lowest price, and Scalefusion if Android or kiosk devices are in the mix.
