The question asked, verbatim: best website builders for startups
Brands named, in the order the engine gave
- Framer recommended
Framer - my default recommendation for a startup marketing site.
- Webflow mentioned
Webflow - the pick once the website becomes a growth channel rather than a brochure: programmatic/CMS pages, hundreds of blog posts, localization, real SEO control, a designer or contractor on the team.
- Squarespace mentioned
Squarespace - best "look professional with the least effort." If nobody on the team has design taste or time, Squarespace's defaults will outperform what you'd build yourself in a more flexible tool.
- Carrd mentioned
Carrd - if the whole site is a waitlist or one pre-launch page, don't over-buy.
- Next.js mentioned
Next.js on Vercel - not a website builder, but worth naming: if your team is technical and the site will share components, auth, or an app shell with the product, skip builders entirely.
- Vercel mentioned
Next.js on Vercel - not a website builder, but worth naming: if your team is technical and the site will share components, auth, or an app shell with the product, skip builders entirely.
- Wix mentioned
Wix - I'd name it only for non-technical founders who already know it, or who need its built-in booking/payments/restaurant verticals in one place.
- Shopify mentioned
Shopify - if you're selling physical products, this isn't a tie-breaker, it's the answer.
- Durable mentioned
Two things I'd skip: AI "prompt-to-site" generators (Readdy, Durable, Wix ADI) as the foundation of your site - they're great for a first draft and poor at the second year of edits;
- WordPress mentioned
and WordPress, unless you have a specific plugin requirement or someone who'll own maintenance.
- Cloudflare mentioned
One practical note: register your domain somewhere neutral (Cloudflare or Porkbun) rather than through the builder.
- Porkbun mentioned

Quick flag on the sources: a lot of what ranks for this query is thin SEO content from vendors ranking their own product first (several of the top hits are Readdy's own blog). So the ranking below is mine, with pricing checked against the search results. **1. Framer** - my default recommendation for a startup marketing site. You can ship a credible, polished homepage + pricing + blog in an afternoon, the templates don't look like templates, and a non-designer founder can keep editing it without breaking the layout. ~$10/mo annual for a custom domain, free on a `framer.website` subdomain. This is the right answer for maybe 70% of startups. **2. Webflow** - the pick once the website becomes a growth channel rather than a brochure: programmatic/CMS pages, hundreds of blog posts, localization, real SEO control, a designer or contractor on the team. Steeper learning curve and you'll feel it, but it scales where Framer starts to strain. ~$15/mo static, ~$25/mo with CMS. **3. Squarespace** - best "look professional with the least effort." If nobody on the team has design taste or time, Squarespace's defaults will outperform what you'd build yourself in a more flexible tool. ~$16/mo. Weaker than the above two for a software product's marketing site, stronger for services, agencies, clinics, restaurants. **4. Carrd** - if the whole site is a waitlist or one pre-launch page, don't over-buy. A few dollars a year, done in an hour. Move to Framer when you actually have a product to describe. **5. Next.js on Vercel** - not a website builder, but worth naming: if your team is technical and the site will share components, auth, or an app shell with the product, skip builders entirely. Free to start, and you avoid the eventual migration off a builder. **6. Wix** - I'd name it only for non-technical founders who already know it, or who need its built-in booking/payments/restaurant verticals in one place. Capable and much improved, but the output tends to look its age and lock-in is real. **7. Shopify** - if you're selling physical products, this isn't a tie-breaker, it's the answer. The others' commerce features are an afterthought by comparison. Two things I'd skip: AI "prompt-to-site" generators (Readdy, Durable, Wix ADI) as the *foundation* of your site - they're great for a first draft and poor at the second year of edits; and WordPress, unless you have a specific plugin requirement or someone who'll own maintenance. One practical note: register your domain somewhere neutral (Cloudflare or Porkbun) rather than through the builder. It makes switching later painless, and most startups do switch once within two years. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
