Simpplr - my default pick for a knowledge-worker remote team.
  2. AI-first mentioned

Two I'd steer you away from: Notion as an intranet works at first but needs governance discipline most teams can't sustain as they grow, and Confluence is excellent documentation but a poor comms/engagement hub unless you're deep in Atlassian.

Two I'd steer you away from: Notion as an intranet works at first but needs governance discipline most teams can't sustain as they grow, and Confluence is excellent documentation but a poor comms/engagement hub unless you're deep in Atlassian.

The answer, as recorded

Short version: the "best" one is mostly determined by which ecosystem you already live in, but here's how I'd rank them for a distributed team. **1. Simpplr** - my default pick for a knowledge-worker remote team. It's a purpose-built modern intranet, and since its 2023 pivot it's genuinely AI-first: generative search and summarization, which matters a lot when nobody can just lean over and ask a colleague where the doc is. ~1,000+ customers including Snowflake and DocuSign. Enterprise quote-based pricing, and they really target 500+ employees. **2. Staffbase** - the one I'd name if your "remote" team includes frontline or deskless people. Mobile-first employee app + intranet + internal email in one, strong in European enterprise and manufacturing (Adidas, Audi, Mars, DHL). It's also the only one here with a public pricing signal: reported median annual contract ~$28.5k, ranging roughly $20k-$153k by size. **3. Workvivo (Zoom)** - best if your problem is engagement and culture rather than document findability. It feels like a social feed - activity stream, Spaces, recognition - which works well for teams that have lost hallway contact. Acquired by Zoom in 2023, so it's a natural fit if you're already on Zoom. **4. Microsoft SharePoint + Viva Connections** - if you're on Microsoft 365, start here before buying anything. Viva Connections puts a curated, branded news-and-resources layer on top of SharePoint inside Teams. It's dull compared to the above, but it's effectively already paid for, and nothing beats it on document management and governance. **5. Happeo** - the Google Workspace equivalent of the above. Purpose-built for Google-based orgs, with federated search across your whole tool stack. Natural answer if you'd otherwise be fighting SharePoint. **6. Unily** - large global enterprises wanting one feature-rich, scalable platform (broadcast email, intranet, recognition) with serious analytics. Overkill below a few thousand employees. **7. Blink** - mobile-first, deskless-focused, lighter and cheaper than Staffbase. Good for smaller frontline-heavy orgs. Two I'd steer you away from: **Notion** as an intranet works at first but needs governance discipline most teams can't sustain as they grow, and **Confluence** is excellent documentation but a poor comms/engagement hub unless you're deep in Atlassian. One caveat: Simpplr, Unily, and Workvivo all publish zero pricing - budget for a sales cycle and expect five figures annually. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
