The question asked, verbatim: best static site hosting for startups. This page records one answer on one date. It is a measurement, not a ranking and not a recommendation.
Brands named, in the order the engine gave
- Cloudflare recommended
Cloudflare (Workers with static assets, or Pages) - My default pick for a startup.
- Workers recommended
Cloudflare (Workers with static assets, or Pages) - My default pick for a startup.
- Durable recommended
Pages is still fully supported with no deprecation deadline, but Workers is where the investment is going (Durable Objects, cron triggers, better observability), and a single Worker can serve your frontend and backend together.
- Vercel recommended
Vercel - The pick if you're on Next.js, full stop.
- Next.js recommended
Vercel - The pick if you're on Next.js, full stop.
- Netlify recommended
Netlify - Still excellent for content-driven marketing sites, especially because of built-ins you'd otherwise build yourself: forms (now free on all credit plans), identity, split testing.
- GitHub recommended
GitHub Pages - Genuinely the right answer for docs sites, changelogs, and project pages.

- Render recommended
Render or Railway - Not static hosts per se, but worth naming because most startups discover within six months that they need a real backend, a Postgres instance, and background workers.

# Best static site hosting for startups Here's what I'd actually recommend, in order: **1. Cloudflare (Workers with static assets, or Pages)** - My default pick for a startup. Static asset bandwidth and requests are **unmetered and free on every plan, including free** - it's the only major platform with no bandwidth-overage cliff waiting for you. That matters enormously when a launch, a Show HN, or a viral tweet lands. One caveat on naming: for a greenfield project, start on **Workers with static assets** rather than Pages. Pages is still fully supported with no deprecation deadline, but Workers is where the investment is going (Durable Objects, cron triggers, better observability), and a single Worker can serve your frontend and backend together. Paid Workers starts at $5/mo. **2. Vercel** - The pick if you're on Next.js, full stop. Nobody else runs Next.js as well, and the DX (push-to-deploy, preview URL per PR, image optimization, edge middleware) is the category benchmark. Free Hobby tier gives 100 GB bandwidth; Pro is $20/user/mo annually (~$24 monthly) with 1 TB included, then roughly $0.15/GB over. The risk is that your hosting bill scales with traffic and seats, and surprise invoices on Vercel are a well-known genre. **3. Netlify** - Still excellent for content-driven marketing sites, especially because of built-ins you'd otherwise build yourself: forms (now free on all credit plans), identity, split testing. But know the pricing model changed in April 2026 to **credits**: 300 credits/mo free, and since the April change bandwidth costs 20 credits/GB and compute 10 credits/GB-hour - each credit buys less than it used to, so an active project can burn the free allowance in roughly twenty production deploys. The upside is seats are now unlimited and free on Pro (~$19-20/mo). If you're on a pre-Sept-2025 legacy account, you keep the old 100 GB + 300 build minutes. **4. GitHub Pages** - Genuinely the right answer for docs sites, changelogs, and project pages. Free, zero config, and if your code already lives in GitHub there's nothing to set up. No serverless functions, no preview deploys, soft limits around 100 GB/mo and 10 builds/hour. Don't put your main product site here, but don't over-engineer a docs site either. **5. Render or Railway** - Not static hosts per se, but worth naming because most startups discover within six months that they need a real backend, a Postgres instance, and background workers. Hosting your static frontend alongside that on one platform beats stitching three vendors together. **Practical advice:** put the marketing site on Cloudflare (unmetered bandwidth means launch day can't generate a bill), and let the app follow your framework - Vercel if Next.js, Cloudflare otherwise. Keep DNS at Cloudflare regardless so switching hosts later is a DNS change rather than a migration. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
