The answer, as recorded

I'd pick **Cloudflare Pages** for most startups. If your site is built with Next.js, **Vercel** is the better fit. Here's my order: 1. **Cloudflare Pages.** Bandwidth is unlimited on every plan, including the free one. You get 500 builds a month free, and the paid plan is $5/month. Static files are basically free on any tier, so the cost stays low as traffic grows. You also get Cloudflare's CDN, DNS and DDoS protection. One thing I didn't check in these searches: Cloudflare has lately been steering new projects toward Workers with static assets rather than Pages. It's the same idea and similar pricing. 2. **Netlify.** It's the easiest option overall. Every push deploys automatically, every pull request gets a preview link, and it has built-in forms and serverless functions. The free plan allows business sites and has hard limits, so you'll never get a surprise bill. The catch is that billing is now in credits: 300 a month free, $9/month for 1,000 credits, or Pro at $20/month for 3,000. In April 2026 the credits charged per GB of bandwidth doubled, so a site with a lot of traffic uses them up quickly. On the free plan, your site is paused once you run out. Pro includes unlimited team members at no extra cost, which is good for teams. 3. **Vercel.** This is the best choice if your site uses Next.js, and the Git-to-deploy and preview workflow is excellent. The main catch for a startup: the free Hobby plan is for **non-commercial use only**. Vercel's terms say even a static marketing page for a business counts as commercial. So you'd really be paying for Pro at $20/month, plus a charge for each extra team member. 4. **GitHub Pages.** It's free and simple if your code is already on GitHub. It works well for docs, a landing page or an open-source project site. It only serves static files: there are no serverless functions, forms or real preview deploys, so most startups outgrow it. 5. **AWS (S3 + CloudFront, or Amplify Hosting).** I didn't look this up, so it's from my own knowledge. It makes sense if you're already on AWS or have AWS credits from a startup program. It takes more setup than the options above, and you pay per use. **Bottom line:** For a marketing site or docs, start with Cloudflare Pages, since a traffic spike won't cost you anything. If you want the smoothest workflow and features like forms, use Netlify. If the site runs on Next.js, use Vercel, and plan on paying for Pro from day one.
