## Short version For an online store, the status page matters less as engineering comms and more as "is checkout actually broken, and can I tell people before support gets buried." So pick something that **bundles monitoring with the page** and **hosts the page off your own infrastructure** - a status page that goes down with your store is worthless. **1. Instatus** - my default pick for most stores. Flat $15/mo with no per-seat fees, genuinely the best-looking pages, and static/Jamstack-hosted so the page survives your store being down. The catch: monitoring was historically bolted on later, so if you want incidents to auto-post you're leaning on a newer part of the product. **2. Hyperping** - pick this over Instatus if you want the page driven automatically by real uptime checks rather than updated by hand. ~$24/mo flat, monitoring + on-call + status page in every plan, no per-user pricing. Best fit for a small team with no dedicated ops person. **3. Better Stack** - the right answer if you want one vendor for uptime monitoring, on-call rotation, incident management, and the page. Capable and modern, but pricing is add-on based ($29/user/mo, ~$21/mo per 50 monitors, ~$12/mo per status page), so it climbs fast for a small shop. Worth noting a lot of the comparison writing I found is published by Better Stack itself. **4. Atlassian Statuspage** - only if you're a large retailer that needs it boring, bulletproof, and already lives in Jira/Opsgenie. Subscriber-tier pricing runs up to ~$1,499/mo, and it doesn't detect incidents itself - you bring your own monitoring. **5. UptimeRobot** - the cheapest honest starting point. Free tier plus a basic public page. Fine for a one-person store that just wants alerts and a link to post in a support macro. **6. Upptime (or Cachet)** - free, self-hosted, open source. Upptime runs on GitHub Actions/Pages, which conveniently means the page isn't on your servers. Good if you'd rather spend an afternoon than $15/mo. ## Two store-specific things the generic lists miss - **If you're on Shopify, Shopify's own status page will not tell you your store is broken.** It reports platform-level component health, and Shopify's own history page admits issues affecting a small percentage of stores may not appear. You need your own checks. - **Monitor checkout, not just the homepage.** A 200 OK on `/` tells you nothing. Layer an HTTP body assertion on cart and checkout pages, a multi-step API check on the storefront cart-create path, and a browser check on a synthetic test customer. The Shopify App Store's **Uptime - Automated Store Tests** app does this specifically for Shopify if you'd rather not build the synthetic flows yourself. One caveat on sourcing: much of the head-to-head comparison material online is written by the vendors themselves (Better Stack and Hyperping both publish "X vs Y" pages), so treat the rankings in those as marketing and the pricing/feature facts as the useful part. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
