# Status page tools for online stores For a store, the thing that actually matters is bundling **monitoring + status page + alerts** in one tool. A status page you have to update by hand goes stale exactly when traffic spikes and you're busy. So I'd weight the all-in-one options heavily. **1. Instatus** - My default recommendation for most stores. Flat pricing (~$15-20/mo) with no per-seat fees, bundles uptime monitoring and on-call, clean fast-loading public pages, custom domain, and ~5,000 subscribers included. For comparison, Atlassian Statuspage charges ~$399/mo for similar subscriber capacity. If you just want a page up this afternoon that looks professional, this is it. **2. Better Stack** - Best if you want monitoring depth and log management too. Strong alerting and incident workflows. Downside is the à la carte pricing (~$29/user/mo + ~$21 per 50 monitors + ~$12 per status page), which adds up fast with a team - but it's the one I'd pick if you're also debugging why checkout is slow, not just announcing that it is. **3. Hyperping** - Essentials at $24/mo covers 50 monitors, status page with custom domain, browser checks, and on-call scheduling. The **browser checks** are the reason to care here: they can walk an actual checkout flow, not just ping your homepage. That's the failure mode that costs stores money. **4. Atlassian Statuspage** - The incumbent, and still the best for mature access controls, private/audience-specific pages, and subscriber management at scale. Only worth it if you're enterprise-sized or already live in the Atlassian stack. Overkill and overpriced for a typical store. **5. Uptime Kuma** - Free, MIT-licensed, self-hosted. Great if you have a VPS and want zero recurring cost. Caveats: single-node (so it can't tell you if a whole region can't reach you), no on-call, no real incident comms. Also, hosting your status page on your own infra defeats the purpose if that infra is what went down - put it somewhere separate. **6. openstatus** - Best open-source option that's actually maintained: Docker, AGPL-3.0, built-in monitoring, Terraform provider, unlimited team members at $30/mo hosted. Good middle ground if you want the escape hatch of self-hosting without Kuma's limitations. ## Shopify-specific note If you're on Shopify, two separate things to monitor: - **Shopify's own platform status** (`status.shopify.com`) covers storefront, checkout, Shopify Payments, and API. Subscribe to it; don't rebuild it. [StatusGator](https://statusgator.com/services/shopify) aggregates it alongside your other vendors if you want one feed. - **Your store specifically** - Shopify's page won't tell you a theme update broke checkout, an app conflict is silently dropping cart items, or a third-party script is tanking product page load. That's what you need your own monitoring for. There's also an [Uptime app](https://apps.shopify.com/uptime) in the Shopify App Store that does automated store QA testing plus Shopify outage alerts, if you'd rather stay inside the Shopify ecosystem. **My pick:** Instatus for the public page, and if your revenue justifies it, Hyperping instead for the checkout-flow browser checks. One caveat worth knowing - I'd verify current pricing directly on each vendor's site before committing; the figures above come from comparison articles (several of them vendor-published, so read Better Stack's and Hyperping's takes on each other accordingly) rather than from the pricing pages themselves. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
