The answer, as recorded
Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd suggest looking at them. "Order management" for a retail shop usually means one of two things - a POS that owns your inventory and orders, or a layer that sits above several sales channels - so I've split it that way. ## If your shop sells in-store + online (most common) 1. **Shopify (POS Pro + Marketplace Connect)** - the default I'd suggest for most shops. One product catalog covers your till, your website, Amazon/Walmart, and social, with stock syncing across all of them. POS Pro includes unlimited registers per location, which makes it the cheaper option once you have more than one till. Weakest if you need deep purchasing/supplier workflows. 2. **Lightspeed Retail** - pick this over Shopify if the store side is the hard part. Matrix inventory (size/colour variants), serial numbers, vendor catalogs, purchase orders synced across locations, work orders, wastage tracking, and much better store-level reporting and staff permissions. Costs more and takes longer to learn. 3. **Square for Retail** - worth a look if you're small, price-sensitive, and want something you can run on day one. Thinner on purchasing and multi-location depth than the two above, but the lowest-friction start. ## If you're juggling several channels/marketplaces 4. **Cin7 (Core or Omni)** - the strongest pick for multi-store or multi-channel retailers who need traceable stock: purchase order receiving, store transfers, and POS availability all tied together by SKU and location. This is the one I'd name if you're outgrowing your POS's native inventory. 5. **Linnworks** - marketplace-heavy sellers. 100+ channel and marketplace integrations, built specifically to orchestrate orders across them rather than to run a shop floor. 6. **Ordoro** - small/mid sellers who mainly need multichannel orders, shipping labels, inventory sync, and dropshipping routing in one place. Good value, narrower scope. 7. **Zoho Inventory** - has a free tier, so it's a sensible way to test whether a separate OMS layer earns its keep before you pay for one. Best if you're already in the Zoho ecosystem. 8. **Katana** - only if you make or assemble what you sell; it ties purchasing and production to sales orders in a way the others don't. ## If you're genuinely enterprise (hundreds of stores/fulfillment nodes) 9. **Manhattan Order Management**, **IBM Sterling Order Management**, **Fluent Commerce**, or **Aptos** - these handle multi-node fulfillment, complex inventory segmentation, multi-currency/tax logic, and WMS/TMS integration. Overkill and over-budget for a single shop or small chain. **Salesforce Order Management** belongs here too, but only if you're already Salesforce-native. **My short version:** if you're one to five locations selling online as well, start with Shopify POS Pro; switch to Lightspeed if your inventory and purchasing are complicated; add Cin7 on top only when a single POS can no longer hold your stock truth. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
