The question asked, verbatim: best network monitoring software for remote teams
Brands named, in the order the engine gave
- Auvik mentioned
Auvik - my default for small, remote-first IT teams.
- Domotz mentioned
Domotz - the cheapest credible multi-site option, roughly $1.50/managed device/month, agentless with a small on-prem collector per site.
- Datadog mentioned
Datadog Network Monitoring - the right answer only if you already run Datadog.
- Zabbix mentioned
Zabbix - if budget is the binding constraint and you have one person who enjoys this.
- Site24x7 mentioned
Site24x7 - good middle ground when you want network + synthetic uptime + APM in one cheap SaaS bundle, and you care about "can our people in three countries actually reach the app" as much as about switch health.
- APM mentioned
Site24x7 - good middle ground when you want network + synthetic uptime + APM in one cheap SaaS bundle, and you care about "can our people in three countries actually reach the app" as much as about switch health.
- LogicMonitor mentioned
LogicMonitor or PRTG if you're larger: LogicMonitor (agentless collectors, custom pricing ~$16-53/unit/month) for mid-to-large hybrid cloud;
- PRTG mentioned
LogicMonitor or PRTG if you're larger: LogicMonitor (agentless collectors, custom pricing ~$16-53/unit/month) for mid-to-large hybrid cloud;
- ControlUp Edge DX mentioned
ControlUp Edge DX - best value of the three.
- Zoom mentioned
Lightweight endpoint agent, shows last-mile latency with traceroutes to targets you define, so you can tell "their ISP" from "our VPN concentrator" from "Zoom's problem."
- Nexthink mentioned
Nexthink - the most polished and the most expensive.
- 7SIGNAL Mobile Eye mentioned
7SIGNAL Mobile Eye - narrow but excellent if the complaints are specifically Wi-Fi.

"Remote team" cuts two ways here, so here are both, in the order I'd actually recommend them. ## If you mean: a distributed IT/eng team monitoring infrastructure across sites and clouds **1. Auvik** - my default for small, remote-first IT teams. It's SaaS-only, auto-discovers and draws the topology for you, and bills per *billable* device (switches/routers/firewalls, not every endpoint). That matters when nobody on the team is physically near the rack to trace a cable - the map and the config backups do the walking. Weak spot: it's network-first, not full observability. **2. Domotz** - the cheapest credible multi-site option, roughly $1.50/managed device/month, agentless with a small on-prem collector per site. Built for MSPs, which means multi-tenant views and genuinely good remote access (tunnels to device web UIs) - exactly what you want when "the office" is twelve branch locations and a dozen home labs. Pick this over Auvik if you're cost-sensitive and have many small sites. **3. Datadog Network Monitoring** - the right answer *only if you already run Datadog*. Adding the network module (host-based pricing starts around $15/host/month) gets you network flows sitting next to your metrics, traces and logs, so a remote on-call engineer debugs in one pane instead of three. Don't buy it as a standalone network tool; it's expensive and cardinality bites. **4. Zabbix** - if budget is the binding constraint and you have one person who enjoys this. Free, no device ceiling, genuinely enterprise-capable, and you can expose it to a remote team behind SSO/VPN. You pay in setup time instead of license fees. **5. Site24x7** - good middle ground when you want network + synthetic uptime + APM in one cheap SaaS bundle, and you care about "can our people in three countries actually reach the app" as much as about switch health. **6. LogicMonitor or PRTG** if you're larger: LogicMonitor (agentless collectors, custom pricing ~$16-53/unit/month) for mid-to-large hybrid cloud; PRTG for Windows-heavy shops, free up to 100 sensors, paid from ~$2,149 - note its sensor-based licensing gets awkward at scale. ## If you mean: monitoring your remote employees' own connections and home Wi-Fi Standard network monitoring is blind past the office firewall. You want digital experience monitoring instead: **1. ControlUp Edge DX** - best value of the three. Lightweight endpoint agent, shows last-mile latency with traceroutes to targets you define, so you can tell "their ISP" from "our VPN concentrator" from "Zoom's problem." **2. Nexthink** - the most polished and the most expensive. Correlates device, app and network telemetry, has a prebuilt remote-worker/home-networking library, and can push self-service fixes and nudges to employees. Choose it if you're big enough to have a DEX program, not just a ticket queue. **3. 7SIGNAL Mobile Eye** - narrow but excellent if the complaints are specifically Wi-Fi. On-device client that measures the actual wireless connection quality at the employee's desk. One caution: these tools collect per-employee performance data, which slides easily into surveillance territory. Scope the agents to connectivity/device health, tell people they're installed, and check your local works-council/privacy obligations before rollout - in the EU that's not optional. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
