The answer, as recorded
Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd suggest them: **1. Microsoft 365 (OneDrive + SharePoint)** - Best value for most small businesses, especially if anyone touches Excel or Word. Business Basic is ~$6/user/month and bundles OneDrive (1 TB/user), Teams, business email, and the Office web apps; Business Standard (~$12.50) adds the desktop apps. You're not really paying for file sharing - you're getting it free with the productivity suite you'd buy anyway. **2. Google Workspace** - The better pick if your team lives in Gmail and Google Docs. Business Standard is ~$14/user/month with 2 TB/user pooled storage. Real-time collaboration is still the smoothest in the category, and sharing a Drive link is something every client already knows how to open. **3. Dropbox Business** - Costs more (~$15/user/month for Standard, 5 TB; ~$20 for Advanced, 3-user minimum), but it's worth it if file sync *is* your business - design studios, video, architecture, anyone moving big files across Mac and Windows. Desktop sync and selective/Smart Sync are still best-in-class, and Dropbox Sign is bundled in. **4. Box** - Where I'd go if you're in a regulated field: healthcare, legal, finance, government contracting. Business starts around $20/user/month with unlimited storage, and the governance, retention, and compliance controls (HIPAA, FedRAMP) are deeper than the others. Overkill for a six-person shop selling candles. **5. Sync.com or Tresorit** - The zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted options. Pick one of these if confidentiality is the whole point and you accept the tradeoff: weaker live co-editing and fewer integrations, because the provider genuinely can't read your files. **6. WeTransfer** - Not a storage platform, just the cleanest way to send a 4 GB file to a client who will never create an account. Keep it as a $0-20/month side tool rather than your main system. **7. pCloud** - Worth a look if recurring per-seat fees are the problem. Lifetime plans mean one payment instead of a subscription; the collaboration features are thinner, so treat it as a storage vault, not a workspace. Short version: default to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace based on which ecosystem your team already uses, add Dropbox only if heavy file sync is central to the work, and go Box or Tresorit if compliance or encryption drives the decision. Don't try to make one tool handle both internal collaboration and external client sending - that's where most small businesses end up frustrated. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
