The answer, as recorded

For most small businesses, the real decision is "which ecosystem am I already in," and everything else is a special case. Here's how I'd rank them: **1. Microsoft 365 Business Standard (OneDrive + SharePoint) - ~$12.50/user/mo** The best default if anyone on your team lives in Excel, Outlook, or Teams. You get 1 TB per user plus full desktop Office apps, and file sharing comes bundled rather than as a separate line item. Buying OneDrive standalone (Plan 1 at ~$5/user/mo) is usually a mistake - the bundle is better value. **2. Google Workspace Business Standard - ~$14.40/user/mo** The best default if your team works in browsers and docs rather than desktop apps. 2 TB per user, and the real-time co-editing is still smoother than Microsoft's. Business Starter at ~$7.20 is tempting but the 30 GB cap will bite you fast if you store anything but text. **3. Dropbox Business - ~$22.50/user/mo** Genuinely the best *pure* file sync and sharing product - fastest sync, best desktop integration, cleanest external sharing links. But you're paying roughly double for a component the other two give away, so it only makes sense if file handling is the core of your work (design, video, architecture, photography) or you have a big shared library and want the 9 TB pooled model. **4. Box** Where I'd go if you're in a regulated field - healthcare, legal, finance, government contracting. Its compliance certifications, retention policies, and granular permissions are more mature than the others', and the admin controls assume an auditor will eventually ask questions. **5. Sync.com - ~$6/user/mo** The value pick if privacy matters more than collaboration features. Zero-knowledge encryption and Canadian data residency, at a price that undercuts everyone. The tradeoff is real: zero-knowledge means no in-browser co-editing, and the apps feel a generation behind. **6. Tresorit** Same zero-knowledge premise as Sync but more polished and considerably more expensive. Worth it for journalists, law firms, or anyone whose threat model includes the storage provider itself. **7. WeTransfer** Not a storage system - a complement. Keep the free or cheap tier around for sending one-off large files to clients who shouldn't have to create an account. Solves a problem the other tools handle awkwardly. **My actual advice:** don't buy a standalone file sharing tool. Pick Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace based on where your team already works, use its included storage, and add WeTransfer for external one-offs. Only add Dropbox or Box if you hit a specific wall. One caveat on the pricing above: these are list prices from comparison articles, and vendors discount heavily for annual commitments and shift tiers often - confirm current numbers on the vendor's own site before you budget. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
