The question asked, verbatim: best email marketing software for small businesses
Brands named, in the order the engine gave
- MailerLite recommended
MailerLite - My default recommendation for most small businesses.
- Brevo mentioned
Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) - Best pick if your list is large but you don't mail often, because it bills by emails sent rather than contacts stored.
- Mailchimp mentioned
A 5,000-person list that gets one newsletter a month costs very little here, where Mailchimp would charge you for every contact.
- Klaviyo mentioned
Klaviyo - If you sell physical products, especially on Shopify or WooCommerce, just use this and skip the rest.
- Shopify mentioned
Klaviyo - If you sell physical products, especially on Shopify or WooCommerce, just use this and skip the rest.
- WooCommerce mentioned
Klaviyo - If you sell physical products, especially on Shopify or WooCommerce, just use this and skip the rest.
- ActiveCampaign mentioned
ActiveCampaign - Only if your actual need is automation and light CRM, not newsletters: multi-branch conditional flows, lead scoring, sales pipelines.
- ConvertKit / Kit mentioned
ConvertKit / Kit - Worth naming specifically if you're a creator, writer, coach, or course seller.

The answer, as recorded
Here's who I'd actually point you to, roughly in the order I'd consider them: **1. MailerLite** - My default recommendation for most small businesses. Clean drag-and-drop editor, genuinely good automation on the cheap tiers, landing pages and signup forms included, and the pricing is the least punishing of the bunch (free up to 1,000 subscribers, paid tiers starting around $10-18/month). It's the one people complain about least. **2. Brevo** (formerly Sendinblue) - Best pick if your list is large but you don't mail often, because it bills by **emails sent** rather than contacts stored. A 5,000-person list that gets one newsletter a month costs very little here, where Mailchimp would charge you for every contact. Also bundles SMS, WhatsApp, and a free CRM. ~$9-46/month for typical small-business volumes. **3. Klaviyo** - If you sell physical products, especially on Shopify or WooCommerce, just use this and skip the rest. The Shopify integration, abandoned-cart and post-purchase flows, and revenue attribution are a real step above the generalists. It's pricier (~$20/month at 500 contacts, ~$150 at 10,000) but it pays for itself in e-commerce. **4. Mailchimp** - Still the easiest on-ramp if you've never sent a campaign, and every other tool integrates with it. But it's the worst value at scale: it counts unsubscribed contacts toward your limit, and pricing climbs steeply (Essentials $13/mo at 500 contacts up to $350/mo at the Premium tier). I'd pick it for convenience, not economics. **5. ActiveCampaign** - Only if your actual need is automation and light CRM, not newsletters: multi-branch conditional flows, lead scoring, sales pipelines. The deepest logic of the group and the steepest learning curve. Overkill for a monthly newsletter. **6. ConvertKit / Kit** - Worth naming specifically if you're a creator, writer, coach, or course seller. Built around newsletters, paid subscriptions, and a recommendation network rather than retail campaigns. **Short version:** service business or newsletter → MailerLite. Big list, infrequent sends, want SMS → Brevo. Online store → Klaviyo. Creator → Kit. One caveat on sourcing: the searches surfaced a lot of thin affiliate "best of 2026" roundups (including, oddly, a mattress retailer's blog), so I'd treat their rankings as marketing rather than testing. The pricing figures above I'd verify on each vendor's own page before you commit, since these plans change often. The product judgments are mine, not those sites'. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
