The question asked, verbatim: best email marketing software for small businesses. This page records one answer on one date. It is a measurement, not a ranking and not a recommendation.
Brands named, in the order the engine gave
- MailerLite mentioned
MailerLite - the default for most small businesses.
- Brevo mentioned
Brevo - best value, especially if you want SMS and email together.
- Mailchimp compared
Critically, it bills on emails sent, not contacts stored - so if you have a big list you email occasionally (restaurants, gyms, local services), it runs 30-60% cheaper than Mailchimp at the same volume.
- Klaviyo mentioned
Klaviyo - only if you run an e-commerce store.
- Shopify mentioned
On Shopify or WooCommerce, its abandoned-cart, browse-abandonment and post-purchase flows pay for themselves, and the revenue attribution is the best in the business.
- WooCommerce mentioned
On Shopify or WooCommerce, its abandoned-cart, browse-abandonment and post-purchase flows pay for themselves, and the revenue attribution is the best in the business.
- Kit mentioned
Kit (formerly ConvertKit) - for creators, coaches, newsletters, course sellers.
- Constant Contact mentioned
Constant Contact - if you want hand-holding and events.
- ActiveCampaign mentioned

The answer, as recorded
There's no single winner - it depends on what you're sending and what you're selling. Here's who I'd actually name, in order: **1. MailerLite - the default for most small businesses.** Cleanest editor in the category, genuinely good automation on cheap plans, and the pricing stays sane as your list grows. Paid plans start around $10-12/mo; the free plan dropped to a small subscriber cap (500) in late 2025, so treat free as a trial rather than a home. This is where I'd start if you have no strong reason to go elsewhere. **2. Brevo - best value, especially if you want SMS and email together.** Free tier gives you unlimited contacts with a 300/day send limit, which is enough to run a real newsletter at zero cost. Paid starts ~$9/mo. Critically, it bills on *emails sent*, not contacts stored - so if you have a big list you email occasionally (restaurants, gyms, local services), it runs 30-60% cheaper than Mailchimp at the same volume. Includes a free CRM and WhatsApp. **3. Klaviyo - only if you run an e-commerce store.** On Shopify or WooCommerce, its abandoned-cart, browse-abandonment and post-purchase flows pay for themselves, and the revenue attribution is the best in the business. It's overkill and overpriced for anyone else: ~$30/mo at 1,000 profiles, $100 at 5,000, and it charges on profiles stored, which punishes list bloat. **4. Kit (formerly ConvertKit) - for creators, coaches, newsletters, course sellers.** Free up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited sends, which is the most generous offer in the market by a wide margin. Built around tagging people by behavior rather than managing lists. Check the current free-tier limits on automations before you commit - the advanced sequence builder has historically been a paid feature. **5. Constant Contact - if you want hand-holding and events.** No free plan, $12/mo entry. I name it mainly because the phone support is real and it bundles event registration, surveys and social posting - good for a nonprofit or a local organization where a non-marketer owns the newsletter. **6. ActiveCampaign - when your automation gets genuinely complicated.** From ~$15/mo, no free plan, 14-day trial. Best-in-class conditional logic and CRM, but it gets expensive fast (~$149/mo at 10,000 contacts) and most small businesses never use the depth they're paying for. Pick it only after you've outgrown something simpler. **Who I'd skip:** Mailchimp. It's the name everyone knows, free plan is 500 contacts/1,000 sends, Essentials $13/mo - but it bills on total contacts including unsubscribes, and the price curve above ~5,000 contacts is the worst of this group. It's fine, just no longer the best deal at any list size. **Short version:** Brevo if budget is the constraint, MailerLite if ease of use is, Klaviyo if you sell products online, Kit if you sell yourself. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
