The answer, as recorded

Here's how I'd rank them, assuming a small business with a list in the hundreds-to-low-thousands: **1. MailerLite - my default recommendation for most small businesses.** Cleanest editor of the bunch, genuinely easy to learn, and the cheapest credible paid tier (free up to ~1,000 subscribers, paid from around $10-18/month). Automation, landing pages, and signup forms are all included rather than upsold. If you don't have a specific reason to pick something else, pick this. **2. Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) - best value if you need more than email.** It bundles email, SMS, WhatsApp, and a free CRM in one place, and it prices by *emails sent* rather than contacts stored. That makes it the clear winner if you have a big list you mail infrequently. Free tier is unlimited contacts but caps you at 300 emails/day; paid starts around $9/month. ([costbench comparison](https://www.costbench.com/compare/brevo-vs-mailerlite/)) **3. Klaviyo - only if you're an e-commerce store.** For Shopify/WooCommerce it's not really a competition: the product-data integration, abandoned-cart and post-purchase flows, and revenue attribution are a tier above everyone else. It's also the one that gets expensive fastest as your list grows (~$150/month at 10,000 contacts), so it only pays off if email is driving actual sales. ([Mailchimp vs Klaviyo pricing](https://costbench.com/compare/mailchimp-vs-klaviyo)) **4. Kit (formerly ConvertKit) - best for creators, newsletters, coaches, and anyone selling their own digital products.** Built around a single growing audience with tags rather than campaign blasts, plus built-in paid-newsletter and digital-product selling. Free up to 10,000 subscribers for basic sending, which is unusually generous. **5. ActiveCampaign - if your automation is the actual product.** Deepest conditional logic and best CRM integration of the mainstream tools, with the steepest learning curve to match. Worth it when you have multi-branch lifecycle sequences; overkill for a monthly newsletter. **6. Constant Contact - if you want a phone number to call.** Dated interface and middling automation, but the support is real and it has event-management and survey tools baked in. Good fit for restaurants, nonprofits, local orgs, and anyone who'd rather talk to a human than read docs. **Mailchimp:** I'd no longer lead with it. It's still the easiest path to a first campaign and has the biggest integration library, but it counts unsubscribed contacts toward your billing, and pricing has crept up to where MailerLite or Brevo do the same job for less. Fine if you're already on it; not where I'd start in 2026. ([Bluehost roundup](https://www.bluehost.com/blog/best-email-marketing-platforms-small-businesses/)) One caveat on sourcing: the pricing figures above came from comparison and affiliate-driven roundup sites, and email vendors change tiers often - confirm the current number on the vendor's own pricing page before you commit. The ordering here reflects my own read of the tools, not those rankings; several of those sites lead with picks (Wishpond, Sender) that I wouldn't put in a top five. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
