The answer, as recorded
Searched - here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd consider them for an online store. ## The short answer **1. Aircall - the default pick if your support lives in Shopify + a helpdesk.** This is the one I'd name first for ecommerce specifically. The reason is the integration depth, not the calling quality: when a customer calls, the agent sees the order before saying hello, and the [Gorgias partnership](https://aircall.io/call-center-software-integrations/ecommerce/) creates a ticket and matches it to the Shopify customer automatically, so your team can edit the order mid-call. Also integrates with WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Zendesk, HubSpot. Downside: it's the expensive option - roughly $30-40/license/month with a **3-license minimum**, so it's wrong for a one-person shop. **2. Dialpad - best value, and the best AI.** Around $15-27/user/month. [business.com's head-to-head](https://www.business.com/articles/ringcentral-vs-dialpad/) gives Dialpad the win on price against RingCentral while keeping real functionality, and its live transcription / call summaries / sentiment are genuinely the strongest in the category rather than a checkbox. Good fit if you have 1-10 agents and want call notes written for you instead of by you. **3. RingCentral - the safe all-rounder if you want one system for everything.** From about $20/user/month annually. 500+ integrations and the most mature platform here; better than Dialpad once you're bigger or spread across locations/time zones. I'd pick it over Aircall only if phone is a general business need (warehouse, suppliers, returns, internal chat) rather than a dedicated support channel. See [Forbes' VoIP roundup](https://www.forbes.com/advisor/business/software/best-voip-service/). **4. Nextiva - if you want the support inbox and the phone system from one vendor.** Starts around $15-20/user/month. It's less "phone system" and more multichannel customer-service platform - it covers social and review sites alongside voice, which no one else here really does. Worth a look if you don't already pay for Gorgias or Zendesk and would rather not stack two tools. ([Business News Daily review](https://www.businessnewsdaily.com/16093-nextiva-review.html)) **5. Ooma Office - the cheap, no-drama choice for a small store.** About $20/user/month, no contracts, easy to set up. Weak integrations, so don't expect order context on screen - but if you just need a real business number, an auto-attendant, and hours routing, it does that without a project. **6. Zoom Phone or Google Voice - floor-price, around $10/user/month.** Only if phone is an obligation rather than a channel. Google Voice in particular is barely a phone system (thin routing, no real queueing), but if you're on Google Workspace already it's nearly free and takes ten minutes. **7. CloudTalk, JustCall, or KrispCall - if you're cross-border or doing outbound.** Roughly $15-25/user/month, and the actual reason to use them is cheap local numbers in many countries plus power dialers for abandoned-cart and win-back calling. Weaker platforms overall than the above; pick one of these for the number coverage, not the features. ## Two things worth knowing before you buy - **If you already use Gorgias or Zendesk, check their native voice first.** Gorgias has built-in phone support now; you may not need a separate VoIP vendor at all, and one fewer integration is worth real money. ([Aircall's ecommerce integrations page](https://aircall.io/en-gb/solution/industry/retail-ecommerce/) is a useful read either way.) - **Test the IVR under load, not in a demo.** For a store, the thing that actually breaks is Black Friday - call surges hitting your routing and queue. Most of these look identical on a feature grid and diverge sharply when 40 people call at once. Ask any vendor you shortlist for queue callback and overflow behavior specifically. My one-line version: **Aircall if support is a real channel and you're on Shopify; Dialpad if you want the best price-to-capability ratio; Ooma if you just need a phone number to exist.** Sources: - [Aircall - retail & ecommerce solution](https://aircall.io/en-gb/solution/industry/retail-ecommerce/) - [Aircall - ecommerce integrations](https://aircall.io/call-center-software-integrations/ecommerce/) - [business.com - RingCentral vs. Dialpad](https://www.business.com/articles/ringcentral-vs-dialpad/) - [Forbes Advisor - Best VoIP Services](https://www.forbes.com/advisor/business/software/best-voip-service/) - [Forbes Advisor - Best Cheap VoIP Services](https://www.forbes.com/advisor/business/best-cheap-voip-services/) - [Business News Daily - Nextiva review](https://www.businessnewsdaily.com/16093-nextiva-review.html) Note on prices: these move constantly and most of the low figures assume annual billing, so treat them as ballpark and confirm on the vendor's own pricing page.
