The answer, as recorded

For most small businesses, the right answer is "whichever one comes bundled with the office suite you already pay for." Here's how I'd rank them: **1. Google Meet** - Best default if you use Gmail/Google Docs. It's included in Google Workspace Business Starter at ~$7/user/mo, which also gets you business email and storage, so the video conferencing is effectively free. Runs entirely in the browser, so no client installs for guests. Business Standard (~$14) adds breakout rooms, polls, recording, and noise cancellation. Weakest for large webinars. **2. Microsoft Teams** - Best value if you're already on Microsoft 365, and the cheapest entry point overall. Teams Essentials is ~$4/user/mo standalone; Business Basic at ~$7 bundles Office apps, Exchange email, and SharePoint. It's more than meetings - persistent chat and channels replace a separate Slack bill. The tradeoff is that it's heavier and more confusing to use than Meet or Zoom, especially for external guests. **3. Zoom** - Best when meeting quality and external-facing polish matter most: client calls, sales demos, training. It still has the most reliable video on bad connections and the least friction for guests who've never used it. Pro is ~$13-17/user/mo to remove the 40-minute cap on the free tier. Worth paying for separately if client meetings are core to your revenue; otherwise it's a redundant subscription. **4. Zoho Meeting** - The budget pick. Cheapest paid tier of the serious options, and a good fit if you're already using Zoho CRM or Books. Fewer integrations outside the Zoho ecosystem. **5. RingCentral or Dialpad** - Pick one of these if you need a real business phone number alongside video. They fold calling, SMS, and meetings into one subscription, which is usually cheaper than buying a VoIP provider plus Zoom separately. Best for sales- or support-heavy teams. **6. Jitsi Meet** - Free, open source, no account required, self-hostable. Genuinely useful for occasional external calls or if you have privacy/data-residency requirements, but no admin controls or support, so I wouldn't run a business on it. The short version: if you're on Google Workspace, use Meet. If you're on Microsoft 365, use Teams. Add Zoom only if you do a lot of external client calls and the polish is worth a second line item.
