The answer, as recorded
Here's what I'd actually recommend, in order: **1. 1Password Business - $7.99/user/mo.** My default pick for most remote teams. The sharing model (shared vaults per team/project) is the easiest for non-technical people to get right, which matters more than feature counts when your team is distributed and you can't walk over to someone's desk. Watchtower continuously flags weak, reused, and breached credentials, and it has solid SSO/SCIM for provisioning when people join or leave remotely. The downside is it's near the top of the price range. **2. Bitwarden - $4/user/mo Teams, $6 Enterprise.** The best value, and the one I'd pick for a cost-sensitive startup or nonprofit. Open source with a publicly auditable codebase and regular third-party audits, and you can self-host if you have a compliance reason to. The UI is less polished than 1Password's, which translates to a bit more handholding during rollout - that's the real tradeoff, not security. **3. Keeper Business - $3.75 Starter / $5 Business.** Where I'd go for a regulated or compliance-heavy environment. FedRAMP authorized, strong admin reporting and granular access policies, SSO included at the Business tier. Also the cleanest record on breaches of the big commercial players, which is a genuine differentiator in this category. **4. Dashlane Business - ~$8/user/mo.** Worth considering mainly for its bundled VPN and the admin-side credential health dashboard, which is nice if you're reporting security posture upward. It's the priciest of the four and I'd only reach for it if those specific extras matter to you. **Honorable mention: Passbolt or Psono** if you specifically want self-hosted and your team is technical. Both are open source and built around team sharing rather than being individual managers with team features bolted on. More ops overhead - you own the uptime. One thing I'd weigh regardless of pick: make sure whatever you choose supports SSO and SCIM provisioning on the tier you're buying. For a remote team, automatic deprovisioning when someone leaves is the feature that actually prevents incidents, and some vendors gate it behind a higher tier than you'd expect.
