Gorgias - The default answer for most online stores, especially on Shopify.

Starts around $10/mo (entry tier covers a few agents), and pricing is ticket-based rather than per-seat, which is friendly when you have part-time or seasonal agents.

Richpanel - The one I'd point you to if Gorgias feels expensive at your volume.

Shopify Inbox - Worth naming because it's free and already in your admin.

## My shortlist, in the order I'd actually recommend them **1. Gorgias** - The default answer for most online stores, especially on Shopify. It's purpose-built for ecommerce: order data, tracking, and customer history sit right inside every ticket, and agents can refund, cancel, or edit an order without leaving the conversation. Email, chat, SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook all land in one inbox. Starts around $10/mo (entry tier covers a few agents), and pricing is ticket-based rather than per-seat, which is friendly when you have part-time or seasonal agents. Reportedly used by ~40% of Shopify's top 250 merchants. Downside: AI (Automate), Voice, and SMS are priced as add-ons, so the real bill climbs with volume. **2. Richpanel** - The one I'd point you to if Gorgias feels expensive at your volume. Very similar Shopify depth, strong self-service portal for the "where is my order / I want a return" questions that are 60-70% of store tickets, and AI credits bundled into the plan instead of metered separately. Starts around $29/mo on per-seat pricing. Users consistently report faster human support than Gorgias gives on lower tiers. **3. Zendesk** - Pick this only if you're genuinely big or complex: multiple brands, multiple regions, a support team of 15+, or compliance/reporting requirements. Best-in-class customizability and analytics. But it's ~$19-55+/agent/month depending on tier, AI costs extra, and setup is a real project. For a single-store DTC brand it's overkill and you'll feel the ecommerce context is bolted on rather than native. **4. Freshdesk** - The budget pick. There's a free tier, Shopify integration exists, and automation is decent for the price (up to ~$89/agent/mo at the top). Not ecommerce-native the way the first two are, so expect more tab-switching. Good if you're pre-revenue or doing fewer than ~100 tickets/month. **5. Shopify Inbox** - Worth naming because it's free and already in your admin. If you're doing a handful of chats a day and mostly pre-sale questions, don't buy anything yet. It will not scale past a couple of agents. **6. Help Scout** - The one I'd name if your store is more of a considered-purchase/relationship business than a high-volume DTC machine. Cleanest agent experience of the bunch, excellent knowledge base, but weaker native order actions. **What I'd actually do:** if you're on Shopify and doing meaningful volume, trial Gorgias and Richpanel side by side for two weeks on your real ticket flow - the deciding factor is almost always how much of your WISMO volume each one deflects automatically, and that's store-specific. If you're under a few hundred tickets a month, start with Shopify Inbox or Freshdesk's free tier and revisit when agents start complaining. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
