The question asked, verbatim: best field service management software for small businesses

Brands named, in the order the engine gave

  1. Jobber mentioned
Jobber - the default pick for most small home-service businesses (landscaping, cleaning, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, handyman).
  2. G2 mentioned
It also consistently scores highest of this group on user satisfaction on G2.
  3. Housecall Pro mentioned
Housecall Pro - pick this over Jobber if your business is residential and you care most about the customer-facing side: online booking, automated "tech is on the way" texts, review requests, postcards/email marketing, and integrated payments are stronger out of the box.
  4. Service Fusion mentioned
Service Fusion - the one to look at the moment you pass roughly 6-8 field staff.
  5. per-seat mentioned
It charges a flat rate (~$149/mo and up) for unlimited users, so it undercuts per-seat tools exactly where those start to hurt, and its dispatch, flat-rate pricebook, and inventory are deeper.
  6. Kickserv mentioned
    Kickserv - the budget/simplicity choice.
  7. QuickBooks mentioned
Almost its entire user base is small companies, it's cheap, easy to learn without training, and its QuickBooks sync and support get strong marks (≈88% satisfaction across ~680 reviews).
  8. Workiz mentioned
Workiz - a solid alternative in the same tier as Jobber/Housecall Pro (4.5 stars on G2), with a notable strength in phone/call tracking and lead attribution.
  9. FieldEdge mentioned
FieldEdge - only if you're an HVAC/plumbing shop with heavy service-agreement and equipment-history needs.
  10. ServiceTitan mentioned
ServiceTitan - the one I'd steer you away from.
  11. Xero mentioned
For a small business, a clean two-way QuickBooks (or Xero) integration saves more hours than any scheduling feature, and it's where these tools differ most in practice.

## My shortlist, in the order I'd actually consider them **1. Jobber** - the default pick for most small home-service businesses (landscaping, cleaning, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, handyman). Quote → schedule → invoice → get paid, all in one place, with a genuinely good mobile app and a setup you can finish in a day or two rather than a quarter. Entry plans run roughly $29/mo for a solo operator up to ~$249/mo for larger teams, with no implementation fee. It also consistently scores highest of this group on user satisfaction on G2. Start here unless you have a specific reason not to. **2. Housecall Pro** - pick this over Jobber if your business is residential and you care most about the customer-facing side: online booking, automated "tech is on the way" texts, review requests, postcards/email marketing, and integrated payments are stronger out of the box. Published entry pricing is around $59-79/mo for one user, climbing to ~$149 (5 users) and ~$299 (8 users). The per-user model gets expensive as you add techs. **3. Service Fusion** - the one to look at the moment you pass roughly 6-8 field staff. It charges a flat rate (~$149/mo and up) for *unlimited users*, so it undercuts per-seat tools exactly where those start to hurt, and its dispatch, flat-rate pricebook, and inventory are deeper. Less polished than Jobber or Housecall Pro; more capable. **4. Kickserv** - the budget/simplicity choice. Almost its entire user base is small companies, it's cheap, easy to learn without training, and its QuickBooks sync and support get strong marks (≈88% satisfaction across ~680 reviews). Trade-offs are occasional glitches and limited customization. Good if you want "better than spreadsheets" and nothing more. **5. Workiz** - a solid alternative in the same tier as Jobber/Housecall Pro (4.5 stars on G2), with a notable strength in phone/call tracking and lead attribution. Worth a demo if you buy a lot of advertising and need to know which jobs came from where. **6. FieldEdge** - only if you're an HVAC/plumbing shop with heavy service-agreement and equipment-history needs. It's built for that, but reviewers rate it harder to set up and administer than the lighter tools above. **ServiceTitan - the one I'd steer you away from.** It's the best product in the category and the wrong product for you: roughly $250-500 per tech per month plus a real implementation project. It makes sense around 20+ trucks with dedicated dispatchers and CSRs. Below that, the cost and complexity bury small teams. ## Two caveats - **Verify pricing on the vendor's own site before you commit.** The numbers above come from third-party comparison pages and they *disagree* with each other (I saw Jobber quoted at both $19/user/mo and $29/mo for one user), and a lot of what ranks for this query is low-quality SEO content. Treat these as ballpark figures for narrowing the list, not quotes. - **Check the accounting sync first, not the feature list.** For a small business, a clean two-way QuickBooks (or Xero) integration saves more hours than any scheduling feature, and it's where these tools differ most in practice. Run a free trial with your own real jobs and a couple of your actual techs for two weeks before paying annually.
