# Best review management software for small businesses For most small businesses, the honest answer is that you need far less than the big platforms try to sell you. Here's what I'd actually recommend, in order: **1. Google Business Profile (free) - start here, no exceptions.** Roughly 80-90% of the reviews that matter for a local business are on Google. GBP lets you request reviews via a shareable link, reply to every review, and get notifications - for $0. A lot of businesses buy a $400/month tool to do something they could do free. Use this for 2-3 months first and see whether you actually hit a wall. **2. NiceJob (~$75-$125/month) - best value if you want automation.** This is my default paid pick for a single-location small business. It automatically texts/emails review requests after a job, drip-follows up with non-responders, and pushes reviews to your website. Built for home services (plumbing, roofing, cleaning, contracting) but works for any appointment-based business. At a fifth of Birdeye's price it does the one thing most small businesses need. **3. GatherUp ($40-$99/month) - best if you want multi-site monitoring on a budget.** Monitors Google, Facebook, Yelp, TripAdvisor, BBB, Indeed and more, with email/SMS requests, QR codes, and AI-assisted responses. The per-location pricing (~$60) makes it the cheapest sane option if you run two or three locations. Popular with agencies too. **4. Podium ($399-$599/month) - only if you want the whole SMS inbox.** Podium is really a customer messaging platform that happens to do reviews: texting, webchat, and payments in one inbox. Worth the money *only* if you'd use the messaging and payments too. If you just want reviews, it's badly overpriced. **5. Birdeye ($299-$449/month) - for multi-location operations.** Strongest sentiment analysis and cross-location reporting, plus AI review responses. Genuinely good software, but it's built for 5+ locations. A single-location shop will pay for dashboards it never opens. **6. Trustpilot (free tier available, paid ~$259+/month) - if you sell online or B2B.** Useful when buyers research you outside Google Maps - SaaS, ecommerce, services sold nationally. The free plan lets you collect and respond; paid unlocks invitations at volume and widgets. **Yotpo** is the equivalent pick if you specifically need product reviews and photo/video UGC on an ecommerce storefront. **My recommendation:** run Google Business Profile free for a couple of months with a disciplined habit of asking every happy customer. If the manual asking is what's failing - not the software - add NiceJob. Skip Birdeye and Podium unless you're multi-location or genuinely want the unified inbox. One caveat worth knowing: pricing on these tools is heavily negotiated and the published numbers are often starting points for annual contracts. Ask for month-to-month before signing a year. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
