Copilot and Codespaces being native is a real bonus for a small team without dedicated infra people. For ~90% of startups this is the right call and not worth agonizing over. ## GitLab - if you want the whole DevOps toolchain in one product Repo, CI/CD, container registry, security scanning, issue boards, all first-party rather than stitched together. Genuinely good if you're in a regulated space or want self-managed hosting later without changing platforms. Free tier is usable but caps at 5 users per namespace. ## Bitbucket - if you're already on Jira and Confluence Cheapest of the three (~$3-3.65/user/month) and the Atlassian integration is native, not a marketplace plugin: commits link to Jira issues, branches spawn from tickets.
