The question asked, verbatim: best cloud hosting providers for small businesses

Brands named, in the order the engine gave

  1. Atlantic.Net mentioned
Quick caveat on the sources: most "best cloud hosting 2026" listicles are affiliate-driven, and the top result was Atlantic.Net's own page ranking itself #1.
  2. WordPress mentioned
If you just need a website (brochure site, WordPress, small store)
  3. Cloudways mentioned
Cloudways - Managed hosting that runs on top of DigitalOcean/Vultr/AWS/Google.
  4. DigitalOcean mentioned
Cloudways - Managed hosting that runs on top of DigitalOcean/Vultr/AWS/Google.
  5. Vultr mentioned
Cloudways - Managed hosting that runs on top of DigitalOcean/Vultr/AWS/Google.
  6. AWS mentioned
Cloudways - Managed hosting that runs on top of DigitalOcean/Vultr/AWS/Google.
  7. Google mentioned
Cloudways - Managed hosting that runs on top of DigitalOcean/Vultr/AWS/Google.
  8. SiteGround mentioned
SiteGround - If you want someone to pick up the phone and fix it.
  9. Hostinger mentioned
    Hostinger - The value pick.
  10. Postgres compared
Predictable flat pricing (droplets from ~$6/mo, entry plans around $11), managed Postgres/Redis/Kubernetes when you outgrow a single box, and documentation that's better than the big three's.
  11. Hetzner compared
    Hetzner - Unbeatable price-per-spec, and the overage is ~€1.19/TB versus DigitalOcean's $10/TB.
  12. AWS Lightsail mentioned
AWS Lightsail - Fixed-price AWS ($5-$10/mo tiers) with a clear upgrade path into real AWS.
  13. Lightsail mentioned
AWS Lightsail - Fixed-price AWS ($5-$10/mo tiers) with a clear upgrade path into real AWS.
  14. Liquid Web mentioned
Atlantic.Net or Liquid Web - Both make sense in one narrow case: you need HIPAA/PCI-compliant hosting with a signed BAA and a US-based phone number to call.
  15. Linode/Akamai mentioned
One thing to skip: Linode/Akamai has pushed ~20% price increases on standard compute and lost its price advantage, so I wouldn't start there in 2026.
  16. Akamai mentioned
One thing to skip: Linode/Akamai has pushed ~20% price increases on standard compute and lost its price advantage, so I wouldn't start there in 2026.

The answer, as recorded

Quick caveat on the sources: most "best cloud hosting 2026" listicles are affiliate-driven, and the top result was Atlantic.Net's own page ranking itself #1. So here's what I'd actually tell you, with prices sanity-checked where I could. ## If you just need a website (brochure site, WordPress, small store) **1. Cloudways** - Managed hosting that runs on top of DigitalOcean/Vultr/AWS/Google. You get real server performance without touching a server: staging, backups, caching, and SSL are handled. Starts around $11-14/mo. This is my default recommendation for a small business whose "IT department" is the owner and a web contractor. **2. SiteGround** - If you want someone to pick up the phone and fix it. Support is genuinely good, the WordPress tooling is clean. More expensive than it looks on renewal (intro pricing roughly doubles or triples at year two), so budget for the renewal rate, not the signup rate. **3. Hostinger** - The value pick. Cheap, surprisingly fast, fine for a site that isn't mission-critical. Same renewal-pricing trap, and support is chat-only and uneven. ## If you have a developer or are running an actual app **4. DigitalOcean** - Best balance of simplicity and capability. Predictable flat pricing (droplets from ~$6/mo, entry plans around $11), managed Postgres/Redis/Kubernetes when you outgrow a single box, and documentation that's better than the big three's. Bandwidth overage is $0.01/GB. **5. Hetzner** - Unbeatable price-per-spec, and the overage is ~€1.19/TB versus DigitalOcean's $10/TB. Data centers in Germany/Finland (plus US now), so it's the obvious pick if your customers are in the EU and GDPR residency matters. Tradeoff: support is email-only and businesslike, and account verification can be fussy. **6. Vultr** - Essentially DigitalOcean's twin with more locations (~32), so pick it when you need a region the others don't have. Entry around $14/mo. ## If you need compliance or the big-three ecosystem **7. AWS Lightsail** - Fixed-price AWS ($5-$10/mo tiers) with a clear upgrade path into real AWS. Worth it specifically if you expect to need AWS services later, or a client/insurer requires AWS. Otherwise the complexity isn't worth it at your size. **8. Atlantic.Net or Liquid Web** - Both make sense in one narrow case: you need HIPAA/PCI-compliant hosting with a signed BAA and a US-based phone number to call. Liquid Web is the stronger of the two for fully managed work. Both are expensive for what the hardware is. ## What I'd actually pick If you're a non-technical small business with a website: **Cloudways**, or **SiteGround** if phone support matters more than price. If you have someone technical: **DigitalOcean**, or **Hetzner** if you're EU-based or cost-sensitive. One thing to skip: **Linode/Akamai** has pushed ~20% price increases on standard compute and lost its price advantage, so I wouldn't start there in 2026. Watch for two gotchas across all of these - renewal pricing on the shared-hosting tiers (the advertised rate is a 12-month intro), and bandwidth overage rates, which vary by 10x between providers. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
