The answer, as recorded
Searched. One flag before the list: the top-ranked result for this query is [Atlantic.Net's own marketing page](https://www.atlantic.net/cloud-platform/best-cloud-hosting-providers-small-businesses/) naming itself the #1 pick. I've ignored that ranking and given you my own. The right answer depends on one fork: do you have someone who can administer a Linux server, or do you want the host to handle it? That changes the pick more than any feature comparison. ## If you want someone else to manage it (no sysadmin on staff) 1. **Cloudways** - Managed hosting layered on top of DigitalOcean/Vultr/Hetzner/AWS/GCP. You get backups, caching, staging, and patching handled, but you're not locked into a proprietary stack - the underlying server is a normal VPS. Best default for a small business running WordPress, WooCommerce, Laravel, or similar. Roughly $11-14/mo and up. 2. **SiteGround** - Pick this over Cloudways if support quality matters more to you than flexibility. Genuinely good human support, strong WordPress tooling. Downside: renewal pricing jumps hard after the intro term, so budget for year two, not year one. 3. **Hostinger** - The budget option that isn't junk. Fine for a brochure site, small store, or internal tool. Don't build anything you'd be upset to migrate off of. 4. **Liquid Web** - Worth the premium specifically if you need a real uptime SLA and phone support with an actual engineer. Overkill for a marketing site; appropriate if downtime directly costs you revenue. ## If you (or a contractor) can run a server 5. **Hetzner** - Dramatically the best price-per-spec. 2 vCPU / 4 GB is about €7.99/mo versus $24 at DigitalOcean for the same shape, and 20 TB of egress is included. The catch: EU/US-East locations only, support is email-based and terse, and account verification can be fussy. If your customers are in Europe and you're comfortable on the command line, this is the easy winner. 6. **DigitalOcean** - Costs ~2.5× Hetzner but you're paying for the ecosystem: managed Postgres, managed Kubernetes, App Platform, object storage with CDN, and the best documentation in the industry. The pragmatic pick when you want to stop managing databases yourself. 7. **Vultr** - Choose over DigitalOcean almost entirely for geography - 30+ locations including São Paulo, Mumbai, Seoul. Pricing is near-identical to DO with a thinner managed-services menu. ## What I'd skip **AWS, Azure, and GCP.** They'll appear on every "best for small business" list and they're the wrong tool here. The free tiers lapse, the pricing models punish people who aren't watching them, and a surprise $900 bill from a misconfigured service is a real and common outcome. Go there when you have a dedicated infrastructure person, not before. **My actual recommendation:** Cloudways on a Hetzner backend. You get Hetzner's economics with a managed control plane, and because it's a standard VPS underneath, you can leave without a rebuild if Cloudways disappoints. Two things to check before you commit, regardless of pick: where your customers physically are (latency and data-residency both follow from this), and whether the host's backups are *restore-tested* rather than merely *advertised*. Also note that pricing on all of these moved in 2026 - Hetzner adjusted upward in April - so verify current numbers at checkout rather than trusting comparison tables. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
