Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd reach for them: **1. Zapier - the default if you just want it to work.** Widest integration catalog by a wide margin (9,000+ apps), so whatever odd SaaS tool one of your teams uses, it's probably there. For a remote team the thing that matters is the **Team plan at $69/mo** - it gives you 25 users, *shared* Zaps, folders, and shared app connections, which is the real pain point otherwise (automations built on one person's personal OAuth token that break when they go on leave or quit). Pro plan from $19.99/mo is single-seat, so it's fine for a solo ops person but not a team. Downside: task-based pricing gets expensive fast at volume. **2. Make (formerly Integromat) - same job, much cheaper at volume.** Visual scenario builder, billing per *operation* rather than per task, and meaningfully cheaper per unit. Plans start around $9-16/mo for 10k ops. Worth it if your automations are multi-step (a 10-step workflow burns 10 Zapier tasks but is priced more granularly here). Trade-off is a steeper learning curve - the canvas is powerful but less forgiving than Zapier's linear builder, so adoption across a non-technical distributed team is slower. **3. n8n - pick this if data residency or cost at scale matters.** Fair-code core, self-hostable on Docker/Kubernetes, so workflow data never leaves your perimeter - the right answer for teams handling customer PII, health, or financial data, or anyone in a GDPR-sensitive setup. Critically, it prices per *workflow execution* regardless of step count, which is dramatically cheaper for complex flows. Cloud starts at €20/mo (Starter, 2.5k executions) and €50/mo (Pro), both with **unlimited users and workflows** - unusual and genuinely good for teams. Self-hosted is free beyond your VPS cost. It's also the best of the three for LLM/agent workflows right now. Needs someone technical to own it. **4. Slack Workflow Builder - the one people forget, and it's free with your existing plan.** For a remote team, most "automation" needs are small and conversational: standup prompts, PTO requests, incident intake, kudos, triggering something from an emoji reaction. Doing this where people already are beats building a Zap that pings a channel. Start here before buying anything. **5. Notion automations / databases - if your team's source of truth is already Notion.** Native button and database-trigger automations plus webhooks. Not a general-purpose integration platform, but excellent for doc- and project-centric workflows and zero extra tool to adopt. **6. Microsoft Power Automate - only if you're already all-in on Microsoft 365.** It's bundled or cheap with your existing licenses, has solid desktop/RPA capability for legacy systems, and clears enterprise IT review easily. Outside the Microsoft ecosystem I wouldn't choose it. **My actual advice:** exhaust Slack Workflow Builder and your project tool's native automations first (free, zero adoption cost), then add **one** general platform. Zapier if the team is non-technical and breadth matters; n8n if you have an engineer and either sensitive data or real volume; Make as the middle ground on price. Running two of these in parallel is how you end up with undocumented automations nobody can find. One caveat on the numbers: all three vendors have repriced within the last couple of years, and AI features are increasingly billed separately (Zapier moved AI to model-based pricing in June 2026), so check the current page before you commit to a plan. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
