The answer, as recorded

Here's how I'd actually rank them, depending on the size of your program: **1. Better Impact (MyImpactPage)** - My default recommendation for most nonprofits with a real, ongoing volunteer program. It does the full lifecycle: applications, background-check tracking, scheduling, hours, qualifications/training records, and volunteer self-service. Pricing is tiered by number of *administrators* rather than number of volunteers, which is unusually friendly if you have thousands of volunteers and two staff. Strong reputation for support and for international use. **2. Galaxy Digital Get Connected** - The one to pick if your priority is *recruiting* new volunteers, not just managing the ones you have. It gives you a public-facing, searchable opportunity portal, plus mobile check-in (kiosk/QR), digital waivers, and hour verification. Also the standard choice for volunteer centers and United Ways that coordinate across many agencies. **3. Volgistics** - The value pick. Starts around $17/month for 50 tracked volunteers and scales by volume, so you only pay for what you use. Deep scheduling and hours-tracking features, very mature and stable. The interface looks dated, and that's the honest tradeoff. **4. VolunteerHub** - For mid-to-large organizations (food banks, big affiliates) running high-volume shift-based volunteering. Excellent group/corporate-team registration and kiosk check-in, plus solid Blackbaud/Salesforce integrations. Starts around $143/month billed annually plus a setup fee, so it's overkill for a small shop. **5. Bloomerang Volunteer (formerly InitLive) or Neon One's volunteer module** - Worth pricing if you're already on that vendor's donor CRM, or shopping for one. The real advantage is that volunteer and donor records live in the same database, so you can see that a volunteer is also a $500 donor. Buy this for the integration, not because the volunteer module beats the dedicated tools. **6. SignUpGenius** - If you honestly just need shift sign-ups for events, stop here. Free tier works, premium from about $9/month. It is not a volunteer CRM and won't track credentials or long-term engagement. **7. Track It Forward** - The narrow pick when hour *logging and reporting* is the whole job (service-hour requirements, grant reporting, school or court-ordered hours). Free under 25 volunteers, then from about $13/month. **My short version:** get demos of Better Impact and Get Connected, and price Volgistics as the budget baseline. If you're a small group running occasional events, don't buy anything - use SignUpGenius. One caveat on the research: much of the "best volunteer software" content online is published by the vendors themselves or by affiliate listicles, and I saw at least one product with wildly contradictory pricing across sources. Verify current pricing directly with the vendor, and ask specifically about setup fees and data migration, which are where the real cost usually hides. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
