The answer, as recorded

Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd try them: **1. Google Forms - start here.** Free with no response caps, no seat charges, results dump straight into Sheets. For most small businesses doing customer feedback, post-purchase check-ins, or event signups, this is genuinely enough. Ugly-ish and weak on logic/reporting, but you shouldn't pay for a survey tool until you know Forms can't do the job. **2. Tally or Fillout - the modern free tier.** Both give you unlimited responses free with conditional logic, notion-style editing, and payment fields. Tally is the closest thing to "Typeform quality at Google Forms price." This is the sweet spot most small businesses land on in 2026. **3. Typeform - if the survey is customer-facing and design matters.** Best completion rates of the bunch because of the one-question-at-a-time flow. The catch: it bills by *response*, and it escalates fast - Basic runs ~$25/mo for one user, and a lead form doing ~1,800 responses/month pushes you to the Business tier around $1,000/yr. Great for a polished intake or NPS form, bad for high volume. **4. Jotform - if you need payments, uploads, or e-signatures attached.** 10,000+ templates and by far the most versatile for "form that also does something" (bookings, deposits, intake paperwork). More of a form builder than a survey/analytics tool. **5. SurveyMonkey - only if you need the methodology.** Its 500+ expert-built templates and question bank are real value if you're writing a proper research survey and don't know how to word questions. But the free tier caps at 40 responses/month and paid individual plans run ~$40-105/mo, which is hard to justify for a small business. Most people I'd point elsewhere. **6. Delighted or Survicate - if the goal specifically is NPS/CSAT on autopilot.** These trigger surveys by email/in-app on a schedule and track score trends over time, which the general builders do poorly. One caveat on the research: a lot of the "best survey tools 2026" listicles are SEO content published by the survey vendors themselves (Mailpro, Kiwiform, Qualaroo, SurveyNinja, FeedbackRobot all appeared ranking their own product #1), so I've weighted toward the pricing comparisons and discounted the self-recommendations. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
