Unattended access to your own office machines, Windows/Mac/Linux/iOS/Android, file transfer, multi-monitor.

Zoho Assist - the one to choose if you're supporting other people's computers rather than reaching your own: an IT person, an MSP, or anyone doing ad-hoc "let me fix that for you" sessions.

The answer, as recorded
**Splashtop Business Access** - my default recommendation for most small businesses. Roughly $5-13/user/month depending on tier, which is the cheapest credible paid option, and the performance (it came out of a video-streaming codec background) is genuinely better than the price suggests. Unattended access to your own office machines, Windows/Mac/Linux/iOS/Android, file transfer, multi-monitor. If you just need your team to reach their desk machines from home, start and stop here. **AnyDesk** - pick this if raw responsiveness over bad connections matters most (field techs, high-latency links, remote CAD/design work). Its DeskRT codec is the best-feeling of the bunch on thin pipes, and the client is tiny. Costs noticeably more than Splashtop - about $16/mo solo, ~$31/mo for a 20-user tier - and the lower tiers skimp on admin controls. **Zoho Assist** - the one to choose if you're *supporting other people's* computers rather than reaching your own: an IT person, an MSP, or anyone doing ad-hoc "let me fix that for you" sessions. Priced per technician (~$10-24/mo) with unattended-access licensing separate (~$10-15/computer/mo), so a one-tech shop supporting many users gets in very cheap. Integrates with Zoho Desk if you already live there. **RemotePC (IDrive)** - the budget pick. Flat annual pricing per number of computers, often $30-100/year for a small fleet, with no per-session or concurrent limits. Thinner on admin/reporting features and the renewal price jumps after the first-year promo, but for a 5-10 machine shop it's hard to beat on cost. **TeamViewer** - still the most feature-complete and the most likely to be trusted by clients and auditors (AES-256, MFA, HIPAA/GDPR posture, every platform). Two real caveats: it's by far the priciest (roughly $25/mo entry up to $230/mo for the advanced tiers), and it's notorious for flagging free-tier users as "commercial use" and for annual contracts that auto-renew and are painful to cancel. Buy it deliberately, not by accident. **RustDesk** or **Chrome Remote Desktop** - the free routes worth knowing. RustDesk is open-source and can be self-hosted, so your sessions never touch a third-party relay - good if data residency matters and you have someone technical. Chrome Remote Desktop is zero-cost and zero-setup but has no admin console, no file transfer worth the name, and no support, so treat it as a stopgap. One thing that'll save you money: if everyone's on Windows Pro and you have any networking competence, native **RDP tunneled over Tailscale** (free for small teams) does 80% of this for nothing. The paid tools are really buying you cross-platform support, a central admin console, and someone to call. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
