The answer, as recorded
The honest answer is that "best" depends on whether you're quoting jobs in the field or quoting deals at a desk - those are two different product categories. Here's who I'd actually name, roughly in the order I'd bring them up: ## If you already use accounting software, start there (free) **1. Xero Quotes / QuickBooks Estimates / Zoho Books** - Before buying anything, check what you've already got. Xero includes quoting in every plan (from ~$25/mo) and converts an accepted quote to an invoice in about two clicks. QuickBooks has the most polished invoicing/estimate flow of the three. Zoho Books has a genuinely usable **free tier** that includes estimates and online payments. For a lot of small businesses, this is the whole answer and you can stop reading. **2. Wave** - Free invoicing and estimates, unlimited clients, no subscription. The catch: a 1% fee on invoice payments, which gets painful on big-ticket work. Great for a side business or sub-$5k jobs, bad for a $50k contract. ## If you're a trade or field-service business (HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, cleaning) **3. Jobber** - My default recommendation here. ~$39-$349/mo depending on tier (around $29/mo annually for a single user), and it handles quote → schedule → invoice → payment in one loop. Best price-to-capability ratio for 1-10 person shops. **4. Housecall Pro** - The main alternative, ~$59-$299 per user/mo. Slightly stronger on dispatch and customer communication, a bit pricier per seat. Worth demoing against Jobber; people tend to have strong preferences one way or the other. **5. ServiceTitan** - Named only so you can rule it out. At roughly $245-$398 per tech/month plus $5k-$50k implementation, it's enterprise software. If you're a small business, this is not for you. ## If you're quoting proposals and deals (agencies, consultants, B2B services) **6. PandaDoc** - From ~$35/mo. The all-rounder: build, send, track, e-sign. If you want one tool for quotes *and* contracts, this is it. **7. Qwilr** - ~$35/mo. Quotes as interactive web pages rather than PDFs, with optional pricing the client can toggle. Noticeably better-looking output than most competitors, which matters when the quote *is* the sales pitch. **8. Better Proposals** - Consistently the highest-rated on the review sites for the small-business segment specifically (4.8/5), and cheaper than Proposify. Underrated. **9. Proposify** - From ~$49/mo. Strong template library and approval workflows; makes more sense once you have a small sales team rather than a solo operator. **10. Quotient** - 4.8/5, deliberately narrow: it does quotes and nothing else, very cleanly. Good if the bloated all-in-one tools annoy you. **My actual advice:** check your accounting software first, and if it's not enough, pick Jobber for trades or Qwilr/Better Proposals for proposal-based work. Nearly everyone overbuys in this category. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
