The answer, as recorded
## Short answer There's no single winner - the "best" QMS splits sharply by what you make and how regulated you are. Here's who I'd actually shortlist, in order, with the fork in the road up front. ### If you're a discrete / industrial manufacturer (ISO 9001, multi-site) **1. ETQ Reliance** - my default first call for mid-to-large manufacturers. Cloud, very configurable, covers document control, CAPA, audits, supplier quality, training and change control in one platform, and it standardizes processes across sites without the customization quagmire of older on-prem systems. It also scores better than most peers on ease of use and setup. One thing to know: it was acquired by Hexagon and now sits in the Octave portfolio as **Octave Reliance** - same platform, new name, so don't be confused when the branding differs between your research and the sales deck. ([G2 comparison](https://www.g2.com/compare/ideagen-quality-management-vs-octave-reliance-etq-reliance), [TrustRadius](https://trustradius.com/compare-products/etq-reliance-qms-vs-intelex)) **2. QT9 QMS** - the best value play for small-to-midsize shops chasing ISO 9001 or 13485. Consistently among the highest-rated tools in its class, far cheaper than enterprise eQMS, and quick to stand up. Check the 13485 gaps against your own audit checklist before signing. ([Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/resources/best-quality-management-software-manufacturing/), [G2](https://www.g2.com/compare/mastercontrol-quality-management-system-vs-qt9-qms)) **3. Ideagen Quality Management** - strongest where you have complex multi-site operations across several standards at once and need central oversight with local execution. Its reputation is customizability and audit management; the tradeoff is it's less immediately intuitive than Reliance. Common in aerospace and defense supply chains. ([rfp.wiki](https://www.rfp.wiki/specialty-industries/manufacturing/quality-management-system-software/ideagen-quality-management/etq-reliance-qms)) **4. Intelex** - pick this one specifically if quality and EHS/sustainability report to the same org. Treating quality, safety and environmental data as one system is its whole reason to exist, and that consolidation is worth real money if it kills a second vendor. ([G2](https://www.g2.com/compare/intelex-ehsq-vs-reliance)) ### If you're automotive or an OEM supplier **5. Plex QMS (Rockwell Automation)** - purpose-built for this, and it's not close. APQP, PPAP, FMEA and control plans are native, including the newer IATF 16949 FMEA requirements (FMEA families, foundation FMEAs, automated flow from part FMEA into the control plan), plus in-process SPC, electronic checksheets and 8D tied to lot-level nonconformance. Rockwell is an AIAG member and suppliers report going live in as little as 60 days versus 6-12 months for generic MES. If you're shipping to Ford/GM/Stellantis, start here. ([Plex QMS](https://plex.rockwellautomation.com/en-us/industries/automotive/automotive-quality-management-system-iatf-16949.html), [announcement](https://www.ai-online.com/2022/09/plex-announces-enhanced-qms-solution-supporting-automotive-supplier-requirements-for-iatf-169492016)) ### If you're regulated life sciences **6. MasterControl** - the enterprise standard for multi-site regulated manufacturers with high quality-event volume. Mature, deep audit management, configurable workflows, cloud or on-prem. Be realistic: that breadth means months of configuration plus validation and ongoing maintenance burden. ([G2](https://www.g2.com/compare/mastercontrol-quality-management-system-vs-veeva-vault-qms)) **7. Veeva Vault QMS** - the answer for pharma and biotech, especially if you're already on Vault for regulatory or clinical. Buying it standalone is much harder to justify. ([IntuitionLabs](https://intuitionlabs.ai/articles/veeva-alternatives-eqms-gxp-comparison)) **8. Greenlight Guru** - for medical-device-only teams. Design controls, ISO 14971 risk management and QMSR alignment work out of the box with no configuration, which is exactly the thing that costs you two quarters on MasterControl. The flip side is you're locked into medtech. ([Greenlight Guru](https://www.greenlight.guru/greenlight-guru-vs.-mastercontrol)) **9. Qualio** - the lighter, faster, cheaper option for life sciences startups and small manufacturers that need to be audit-ready without an enterprise rollout. Also worth a look: **ComplianceQuest** (Salesforce-native, good if you already run Salesforce) and **Dot Compliance**. ([Qualio](https://www.qualio.com/compare)) ### Shop-floor layer, not a replacement **10. Mitti** - formerly SafetyCulture/iAuditor, rebranded in 2026. Excellent for frontline inspections, checklists, issue capture from photos or voice, and training across 80,000 organizations. But treat it as a frontline operations layer on top of a real eQMS, not the eQMS itself - it won't carry your design history file or a validated CAPA system. The free tier up to 10 users makes it cheap to pilot. ([IT Brief](https://itbrief.com.au/story/safetyculture-rebrands-as-mitti-in-frontline-software-push)) ### Two cautions Software-directory listicles dominate these search results and several are AI-generated, with invented product names and pricing that doesn't survive contact with a real quote. I saw a per-user figure in the $800-1,100/month range presented as a market average, which is not credible - ignore published pricing entirely and get quotes. Second: if you're already deep in **SAP** or **Siemens**, price **SAP QM** and **Siemens Opcenter Quality** before buying standalone. Integration pain is usually the thing that sinks these projects, not features. Same logic for **uniPoint** if you're on Epicor. **If I had to name one** without knowing your industry: ETQ/Octave Reliance for general manufacturing, Plex if automotive, Greenlight Guru if medical device.

Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
