Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd bring them up: ## 1. Bloomerang - my default pick for most small-to-mid nonprofits Built around donor *retention* rather than just gift recording: constituent timeline, engagement/retention dashboards, generosity scoring. It's the one most likely to change your fundraising behavior rather than just store data. Modern UI, good onboarding reputation. Starts around $125/mo for ~1,000 constituents (annual billing), climbing to roughly $200-$400/mo with larger record counts and online giving forms. It also absorbed Qgiv, so forms/events/auctions are now in-house. ## 2. Little Green Light - best value if you're under ~2,500 donors $45/mo for up to 2,500 constituent records, scaling by tier to about $135/mo at 50,000, with **unlimited users on every plan** and fully public pricing (almost nobody else in this category publishes rates). Not flashy, but genuinely capable on mail merges, tribute gifts, and custom fields. If budget is the binding constraint and you still want a real CRM, this is it. ## 3. Zeffy - if your budget is effectively zero Truly $0 to the nonprofit: forms, ticketing, basic CRM, and 100% of donations pass through, funded by an optional donor tip. The catch is real, though - you *cannot* turn off the tip prompt, it defaults to a high percentage, and some donors find it confusing. Integrations and customization are thin. Fine as a first system, awkward to scale out of. ## 4. Givebutter - best free-ish option if you run events and peer-to-peer Stronger than Zeffy on campaigns, auctions, text-to-donate, and donor-advised fund gifts, and crucially you *can* switch donor tipping off (then you pay platform fees instead). Good modern supporter experience; the CRM underneath is lighter than Bloomerang's. ## 5. Neon CRM (Neon One) - if membership or events drive your calendar From ~$99/mo. The reason to pick it over Bloomerang is the bundled association-management side: member self-service portals, renewals, event registration in one database. Multi-program organizations fit it well. ## 6. DonorPerfect - deep data flexibility, dated feel From ~$99/mo for Core, with Plus/Pro by quote. Very configurable fields, automation rules, and integrations, and it handles complicated legacy data well. Persistent criticisms: aging interface, a steep reporting learning curve, quote-only pricing at higher tiers, and transaction fees. ## 7. Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud - only with real admin capacity Pick this if you have a Salesforce admin (staff or retained consultant) and genuinely complex program + fundraising data. One important caveat if you've been told to "get on NPSP": NPSP has been feature-frozen since March 2023 and is no longer preconfigured for new orgs as of December 2025. All new development is on Nonprofit Cloud, which uses an incompatible data model (Person Accounts, Gift Commitment/Gift Transaction objects), so moving between them is a re-implementation in a new org, not an upgrade. Start on Nonprofit Cloud or don't start here. ## 8. Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT - enterprise only Reach for this at large shops with major-gift programs, prospect research pipelines, and multi-entity reporting. Expensive and heavy; not worth it below roughly $5-10M in annual revenue. **Short version:** under 2,500 donors and cost-sensitive → Little Green Light; no budget at all → Zeffy or Givebutter; serious about retention and able to spend ~$150-400/mo → Bloomerang; membership-heavy → Neon; large and complex with technical staff → Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud. Two things to check before signing anything: whether payment processing fees are bundled or separate (this often dwarfs the subscription), and whether you can export your full donor file yourself without paying for it. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
