The answer, as recorded
## The short version In 2026 this question splits in two, and picking the wrong half is the most common mistake founders make: - **AI prompt-to-code builders** (Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit) - you get real React/Node code you own and can hand to an engineer later. - **Classic visual no-code** (Bubble, FlutterFlow, Adalo, Glide, Softr) - you get a hosted app inside the vendor's platform, faster to maintain but you're locked in. For most startups in 2026 I'd now start with the AI builders, because the lock-in cost of classic no-code hits exactly when you start succeeding. ## What I'd actually recommend, in order **1. Lovable** - my default for a non-technical founder building a web MVP or SaaS. Prompt-to-app, opinionated design so the output looks good without you art-directing it, and it generates a real React + Supabase codebase you can export. Free tier (5 credits/day), Pro ~$25/mo. It went from zero to ~$100M ARR in about eight months, which matters here only because it means the thing won't disappear on you. **2. Replit** - pick this instead of Lovable if you want AI *plus* a real dev environment and hosting in one place, or if you expect to get your hands dirty in the code. Agent 3 can run autonomously for long stretches on debugging. Core ~$25/mo. **3. v0 (Vercel)** - best when the UI is the product: marketing sites, dashboards, front-end-heavy tools. Cleanest generated React code of the group, and deploying is frictionless since you're already in Vercel. ~$20/mo. Weaker as a full-stack choice. **4. Bolt.new** - the closest swap for Lovable, and the one I'd name specifically if you need **cross-platform mobile from day one**, because of its Expo support. Less opinionated on UI, so better if you can steer the AI. **5. FlutterFlow** - the strongest *visual* builder for genuinely mobile-first startups. Real Flutter output for iOS/Android/web, and you can export the code. Note the pricing spread I saw: roughly $39/mo on some listings, ~$80/mo/seat on others - check it directly, it's seat-based and adds up. **6. Bubble** - still the most capable classic platform for complex web apps with heavy backend logic, and it has the biggest plugin ecosystem (~5,300). I rank it lower than I would have two years ago because it's web-only, the Workload Unit usage billing is unpredictable, and the learning curve is real. Pick it when your logic is too intricate for AI builders to hold together. **7. Softr** - the specific answer for client/partner **portals** on top of Airtable or your database. Built-in auth, and flat per-app pricing with no per-seat fee for app users (Free tier, Basic ~$49/mo). Unbeatable for this narrow job; don't use it for a consumer product. **8. Xano + WeWeb** - the "we have a technical co-founder and intend to scale" combo. Xano as a proper no-code backend (production entry ~$85/mo), WeWeb (~$25/mo) for a portable front end. Fair warning: Xano has restructured pricing twice in twelve months and the autoscale/storage add-ons inflate bills fast. **9. Retool** - not for your customer-facing product, but the right call for **internal tools** over a real database with SQL and JavaScript. Free up to 5 users; ~$50/builder/month on Business. **10. Glide** - cheapest way to validate an idea in a weekend if your data already lives in a spreadsheet. ~$25/mo. You will outgrow it, and that's fine - that's the job it's for. **11. Adalo** - flat-rate pricing with no usage caps (~$36/mo) and native iOS/Android from one build. Genuinely good value, but I'd reach for FlutterFlow first on mobile. ## One caveat on the sources A lot of the "best no-code builder" content ranking these tools is published by the vendors themselves - several of my comparison hits were Adalo's blog ranking Adalo first, Bubble's blog, and Lovable's own guides. Competitor-published pricing also skews high (Adalo's blog lists Bubble at "$69/mo+"; Bubble's own entry plan is cheaper). Verify pricing on the vendor's own page before you commit.
