# Membership management software for clubs Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd suggest looking at them. "Club" covers a lot of ground, so I've noted which kind each one fits. **1. WildApricot** - the default starting point for most small-to-mid clubs. It bundles member database, dues/renewal automation, event registration, email, and a hosted website in one tool, and it's genuinely DIY-friendly (drag-and-drop, no implementation consultant needed). Pricing starts around $63-66/month for 100 contacts with a 60-day free trial. If you have no idea where to start, trial this one and judge everything else against it. **2. ClubExpress** - the best value for volunteer-run social clubs, especially larger ones. Pricing is per active member: 42¢/member/month up to 200 members, sliding down to 10¢ above 10,000, with a ~$30/month minimum. For a 600-member club that's under $200/month, which badly undercuts flat-tier competitors. The tradeoff is a dated, feature-dense interface and setup fees ($150-$3,180 depending on package). Very popular with car clubs, hiking clubs, Rotary-type groups, and alumni associations. **3. Join It** - pick this if you already have a website you like (Squarespace, Webflow, WordPress) and only need the membership layer: records, recurring payments via Stripe, automated renewal reminders, member cards. Much simpler than the two above. Watch for transaction fees of 1.5-3% on top of Stripe's, and note that the member directory and website integration are gated out of the cheapest plan. **4. MembershipWorks** - the better choice over Join It if fees matter. It adds no transaction fee beyond your gateway's, lets you use Stripe, Authorize.net, or PayPal, embeds into your existing site, and gives small orgs the full feature set (directories, events, donations, job boards, classifieds) rather than gating it by plan size. **5. Glue Up** - worth a look if events are the heart of your club. It's stronger than WildApricot on event registration specifically, including mobile check-in, plus a decent member mobile app. More of an all-in-one association platform; pricing is quote-based and steps up from the above. **6. GrowthZone** - for clubs that have grown into something more like an association or chamber: strong community features, mobile engagement, integrated website/events/payments. Heavier and pricier, with real onboarding. **7. Raklet** - the budget option. Free entry plan, paid from about $49/month annually, with contact-based tiers. Reasonable if you're a small club testing whether you need software at all. **8. Memberful** - only if your "club" is really a paid community or audience: your brand, your Stripe account, your domain. Great at subscriptions and gated content, not built for chapters, committees, or in-person event logistics. **9. Clubworx / sports-specific tools** - if you're a gym, martial arts dojo, or sports club with class bookings, attendance, and waivers, skip the association platforms entirely; those needs are a different product category. **My shortcut:** under 200 members and want it simple → WildApricot or Join It. Over 300 members and cost-conscious → ClubExpress. Already have a website you're keeping → MembershipWorks. Events-driven → Glue Up. One caveat on the rankings you'll find elsewhere: Capterra, G2, and Software Advice are pay-to-play lead-gen sites, and several comparison pages I read are published by the vendors themselves (WildApricot's "vs ClubExpress" page, MembershipWorks' "Join It alternative" page). Treat the feature claims as directional and verify pricing on each vendor's own page, since it shifts.
