The answer, as recorded

There's no single winner here - manufacturing ERP fit is driven mostly by your size and how you actually produce (discrete vs. process vs. engineer-to-order). Here's who I'd actually name, roughly in the order I'd look at them: **If you're a small shop (under ~50 employees, one or two plants)** 1. **MRPeasy** - The one I'd start with for genuinely small manufacturers. Real MRP logic (BOMs, routings, capacity planning) without an implementation project; most teams are live in weeks, not quarters. ~$49-$149/user/month. The tradeoff is it thins out as you add plants and complex finance. 2. **Katana** - Best if inventory and order flow are your real pain and you sell through Shopify/WooCommerce/Amazon. Strong shop-floor app and live stock visibility; weaker as a true ERP (accounting is usually QuickBooks/Xero alongside it). 3. **Cetec ERP** - Underrated on price-to-capability. Web-native, flat subscription, zero-cost implementation option, and it handles quoting/job costing seriously. Interface is dated; that's the price of admission. 4. **Odoo** - Worth it if you have technical capacity in-house and want to own/extend the system. Open source, modular, cheap to start. Without a good partner, Odoo implementations go sideways. **If you're mid-market (~$20M-$500M, multi-site)** 5. **Epicor Kinetic** - My default recommendation for discrete manufacturing at this size. Purpose-built for it: multi-level BOMs, advanced scheduling, MES integration, quality. Deepest manufacturing DNA of the mid-market options. 6. **Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central** - The safe, scalable pick, especially if you're already a Microsoft shop. Broadest partner ecosystem, so you can hire for it. Base manufacturing is thinner than Epicor's - you'll add ISV modules. 7. **Oracle NetSuite** - Best when finance and multi-entity/multi-currency complexity outweigh shop-floor complexity. Excellent as a business system, adequate as a manufacturing system. 8. **DELMIAworks (formerly IQMS/Plex)** - Specifically for plastics, injection molding, and high-volume repetitive production. Built-in MES and real-time machine monitoring are its differentiator. 9. **Infor CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine)** - Strong for make-to-order and engineer-to-order with heavy configuration. **If you're enterprise / global** 10. **SAP S/4HANA** - Unmatched breadth across discrete, process, ETO, CTO, and mixed-mode, plus global compliance and MES maturity. Only justifiable if you have the scale and budget to absorb the implementation; it punishes underinvestment in change management. Two things that matter more than the shortlist: **your manufacturing mode** (if you're process/batch - food, chemicals, pharma - you need lot traceability, catch weights, and recipe management, which rules out several of the above) and **your implementation partner**, who has more influence on whether this succeeds than the software brand does. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited.
