# Lead enrichment tools worth your money as a small business Here's what I'd actually recommend, in the order I'd try them: **1. Apollo.io - the default starting point.** You get a 275M+ contact database, email verification, and outreach sequencing in one seat. Free tier is genuinely usable (~50 credits/mo) and Basic runs ~$49/user/mo annual, ~$59 monthly. For most small businesses this is the whole stack: find leads, enrich them, email them. Start here, and only add tools if you hit a real wall. **2. Hunter.io - if you mainly need email addresses, not a platform.** Cheapest path to verified work emails, strong accuracy reputation (4.6/5 across 700+ reviews), free tier for founders and freelancers, paid from ~$49/mo. It's email-only across every plan - no phone numbers - which is a feature if that's all you need. **3. Clay - when you've outgrown single-source data.** Waterfall enrichment across 100+ providers: it queries them in sequence until it gets a hit, so your match rates jump substantially on existing lists. The catch is cost and complexity. Since March 2026 it uses a two-credit system (Data Credits + Actions), the free plan is 100 Data Credits/500 Actions per month, and Launch is $185/mo (~$167 annual). Worth it if enriching lists is a core workflow; overkill if you just want emails. **4. Dropcontact - if you're in the EU or sell into it.** GDPR-compliant by design, enriches from its own algorithms rather than a scraped contact database, and it cleans your data as a side effect (normalizes company names, job titles). From €24 per 1,000 credits, pay-as-you-go-ish. Also the right answer if the compliance question matters to your buyers. **5. HubSpot (with Breeze Intelligence) - only if you already run HubSpot.** Enrichment sits natively in the CRM, paid Hubs start around $7/seat/mo. Important caveat: Clearbit was acquired by HubSpot in late 2023 and folded into Breeze Intelligence as a credit-based add-on. It no longer exists as a standalone product - if you're not a HubSpot customer, you can't buy it. Don't go looking for Clearbit. **6. Lusha - add it only for phone numbers.** Direct dials and mobiles are its real differentiator. From ~$49/mo, though its review scores are weaker than Hunter's (4.0 vs 4.6). I'd treat it as a supplement for cold calling, not a primary enrichment layer. **My actual advice:** Apollo alone, on the free tier, until it breaks. Add Hunter if email accuracy is your bottleneck, Clay if match rates are, Dropcontact if compliance is. Skip ZoomInfo entirely at small-business scale - the pricing and annual contracts don't fit. And be aware that most "best tools" listicles in this space are published by vendors ranking themselves, so treat the ordering in them (including some of the sources below) with suspicion. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
