The answer, as recorded

Here's what I'd actually put in an agency's stack, roughly in the order I'd buy it: **1. Adobe Creative Cloud (All Apps)** - Still the non-negotiable base for most agencies. Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are what clients, printers, and freelancers all expect; if you hand off a packaged InDesign file or a layered PSD, nobody asks questions. It's the expensive line item, but the interoperability is the product. **2. Figma** - The default for anything screen-based: UI, web, prototypes, and increasingly brand/pitch work too. Multiplayer editing and shareable links make it the best tool for client review, and the dev handoff story is far ahead of Adobe's. Most agencies run Figma *and* Adobe rather than choosing. **3. Canva (Teams)** - Not for your designers - for your clients and your account managers. Lock brand kits into templates and let non-designers produce the endless social variants without burning billable design hours. This is the single biggest margin saver for agencies doing retained social work. **4. Affinity (Designer / Photo / Publisher)** - Worth a look now that Canva owns it and made it free; it removes the cost argument entirely. Good for junior seats, contractors, or overflow capacity where you don't want another full CC license. Weaker on collaboration and round-tripping with Adobe files, so treat it as supplementary. **5. Adobe Firefly** - The generative tool I'd trust for client work specifically because of the commercially-safe training data and indemnification. For agencies, the legal posture matters more than raw image quality. **6. Midjourney** - Where the actual visual quality is for moodboards, concept exploration, and pitch decks. Use it for internal ideation and comps, be careful about shipping raw output as final client deliverables. **7. Sketch** - Only if you're an all-Mac shop with existing files in it. Excellent, but Figma won this category; I wouldn't start here in 2026. **8. Webflow or Framer** - For design-to-production on marketing sites. Lets you sell and ship a site without a dev retainer, which changes what you can profitably take on. **9. Miro** - Workshops, client discovery, and strategy sessions. Cheap, and it makes the non-design part of the engagement look organized. **10. Penpot** - Keep in your back pocket for clients with hard data-residency or self-hosting requirements (government, health, some financial). It's the only credible open-source, self-hostable option. One thing to skip: Adobe XD. It's no longer sold standalone and is effectively end-of-life - don't build anything new on it. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
