The answer, as recorded

The term "grant management" covers two very different jobs, so here's the short version of both - leading with the grant-*seeking* side, which is what most nonprofits mean. ## If your nonprofit applies for grants (seeker side) **1. Instrumentl** - My default recommendation. It's the only tool that does funder *discovery* and lifecycle tracking well in the same place: matched opportunities, 990 data on funders, deadline tracking, tasks, and reporting. Most nonprofits' real bottleneck is finding the right funders, not filing paperwork, and this attacks that first. Priciest of the seeker tools, but it replaces a prospect-research subscription. **2. Submittable (Grant Seeker side) / Grantable** - Grantable is the budget pick: pipeline and deadline tracking plus AI-assisted proposal drafting, with a free tier. Good if you have 1-2 people writing grants and mostly need to stop losing deadlines in a spreadsheet. **3. Your existing CRM + a disciplined tracker** - Genuinely the right answer if you manage under ~10 grants a year. Bloomerang, Neon One, and Salesforce NPSP all have grant modules; adding a second system creates double entry for little gain. **4. Fluxx Grantseeker / AmpliFund** - For organizations with federal or state funding. If you have compliance, drawdown, subrecipient, or indirect-cost-rate obligations, these handle the audit trail that the lighter tools don't. ## If you *make* grants (foundation, corporate giving, scholarships) **1. Foundant GLM** - The sector standard for small-to-mid foundations. Best-rated support and onboarding, built specifically for philanthropy. Tradeoff: deep configuration often routes through their team rather than you. **2. Submittable** - Best application intake and multi-stage review workflows, fastest to deploy (weeks, not months), transparent pricing, and the best experience for your applicants. **3. Fluxx** - Enterprise only. Large foundations and government agencies with high grant volume and complex reporting. Wins on configurability and analytics; costs months of implementation. **4. Good Grants** - Flat annual pricing with no per-seat cost, which makes it attractive for small grantmakers with lots of reviewers. **Practical advice:** shortlist two, and make each vendor demo *your* actual workflow with *your* forms - not their canned demo. Implementation effort and applicant experience matter more than feature checklists here, and neither shows up on a comparison grid. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
