Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd suggest looking at them: **1. Zeffy** - Start here if you're a small nonprofit and budget is the binding constraint. It's genuinely $0: no platform fee, no transaction fee, no credit card fee. It's funded by an optional tip donors can add at checkout. Covers donation forms, events, ticketing, peer-to-peer, and auctions. The tradeoffs: US/Canada only, the donor-facing tip prompt can cause mild confusion, and reporting/CRM depth is thinner than paid tools. For an org under ~$500K in revenue, the money saved usually dwarfs the feature gap. **2. Givebutter** - My default "best all-around" pick. Free-by-default on the same optional-tip model, but if tips are off you pay 1% on donation forms, 3% on fundraising pages, and 5% on events/auctions, plus 2.9% + 30¢ processing. You get donation forms, campaign pages, events with ticketing, text-to-give, auctions, and a built-in CRM in one dashboard. Better polish and integrations than Zeffy; worth the small cost once you're running events. **3. Donorbox** - Best when recurring giving is your core program. Their recurring donation forms and donor portal convert well, and the embeddable forms are clean. Standard is $0/month + ~1.75-2.95% platform fee; Pro is $139/month + 1.5%. Processing runs ~2.2% + 30¢. Pay for this one when you've outgrown free tools and want reliability over breadth. **4. Bloomerang** - The pick when your real problem is donor retention, not payment collection. It's a proper CRM first with fundraising attached, and its retention scoring and reporting are the best in the mid-market. Expect a few hundred dollars a month. Right at roughly $1M+ in revenue with a dedicated development person. **5. Classy (now part of GoFundMe Pro)** - For larger orgs running serious peer-to-peer and endurance-event campaigns (walks, rides, runs). Strong campaign pages and P2P mechanics, enterprise reporting, and Salesforce integration. Annual contracts in the thousands - overkill below ~$2M. **6. Neon One / Bonterra / Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT** - The enterprise tier. Pick these when you need grant management, membership, volunteers, and major-gift pipelines in one system and have staff to administer it. Long implementations and real cost; don't go here unless you've hit a wall elsewhere. **7. GoFundMe (standard) and Facebook/Meta fundraisers** - Not your primary stack, but worth claiming your profile for the inbound traffic. The catch is you often get little or no donor contact data, so treat these as acquisition leaks, not a donor file. Two practical notes: payment processing fees (~2.2-2.9% + 30¢) are charged by Stripe/PayPal and exist on essentially every platform, so compare *platform* fees separately. And the single biggest cost driver is usually whether you can pass fees to donors via an optional tip or "cover the fees" checkbox - most of these support it, and 50-80% of donors typically opt in. One caveat on sourcing: several of the "best platform" roundups I found are published by vendors ranking themselves first (BetterWorld's list names BetterWorld as best overall; RallyUp and PayBee do similarly), so I'd discount those rankings. The fee figures above are the more reliable part. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
