The answer, as recorded

Two different things get called "fleet management" in delivery, and most firms end up buying one from each column: **telematics/vehicle ops** (where the trucks are, driver safety, maintenance, ELD compliance) and **routing/dispatch** (building stop sequences, driver app, proof of delivery, customer ETAs). Here's who I'd actually name, in order. ## Telematics & vehicle ops 1. **Samsara** - my default recommendation for a delivery fleet of any real size. Best-in-class real-time tracking, AI dash cams, ELD compliance, and routing all in one stack, with support people consistently praise (4.5/5 on G2 vs Verizon Connect's 3.8). The catch is cost and lock-in: users report ~$27-33/vehicle/month plus $99-148 hardware on a 3-year minimum. 2. **Motive** - the main Samsara alternative and usually the better value. Rates higher than Verizon Connect on integration, efficiency, reliability, and customization. Worth bidding against Samsara purely to move the price. 3. **Geotab (MyGeotab)** - pick this if you have an in-house data or IT team. Open platform, raw device-to-cloud data, and a large Marketplace of add-ons, so you can build what the closed platforms won't give you. 4.4/5 overall. 4. **Fleetio** - if your pain is maintenance, not tracking. Software-only, strong work-order and parts management, and transparent pricing ($4/$7/$10 per vehicle/month annually) - roughly a quarter of Samsara's cost because you're not buying hardware. Pairs well with a cheap GPS provider. 5. **Verizon Connect** - I'd name it only because incumbents often already have it. Users consistently want more from its tracking and reporting; I wouldn't choose it fresh. ## Routing & dispatch 6. **Routific** - best fit for most independent delivery firms (roughly 3-30 vehicles). Free up to 100 orders/month, $150/month to 1,000 orders, pay-as-you-go above that, and critically the *full feature set at every tier* - no paywalling optimization behind an enterprise plan. 7. **Onfleet** - the mid-market courier standard, loved for driver-app usability, but it has moved upmarket: ~$619/month for 2,500 tasks, and advanced route optimization, barcode scanning, and age verification now sit on the $1,349/month Scale plan. Great for hybrid or multi-brand fleets and regulated goods; overpriced if you just need routing. 8. **Circuit for Teams** - the best mobile driver experience of the group ($125-$1,000/month), with weaker dispatcher-side tooling. Good when driver turnover is high and training time is your real constraint. 9. **Bringg** - enterprise retail, 100+ drivers, orchestrating owned fleet plus gig couriers in one dispatch layer. 10. **FarEye** - enterprise again, and the one to look at if you want an agentic AI dispatcher out of the box rather than rules you maintain yourself. 11. **eLogii** and **Route4Me** - honorable mentions. eLogii for distribution and field-service fleets over ~10 vehicles; Route4Me when you need granular manual control over routing constraints. **What I'd do:** under ~30 vehicles, Routific plus Fleetio and a basic GPS unit, and skip the enterprise telematics contract. Over ~50 vehicles with compliance and safety exposure, Samsara as the backbone, bid against Motive, and layer Onfleet or Bringg on top if your dispatch complexity justifies it. The thing that actually decides it is how deeply it plugs into your existing ERP/WMS and total cost past the headline price - get the integration scoped before you sign a three-year hardware deal.
