The answer, as recorded
Here's what I'd actually recommend, roughly in the order I'd suggest them: **1. Google Workspace (Google Drive)** - My default pick for most remote teams. The real-time co-editing in Docs/Sheets is still the best in the business, sharing permissions are easy for non-technical people to get right, and everything (Meet, Gmail, Calendar) lives in one place. Business Standard at ~$12/user/month with 2TB pooled storage is the sweet spot. Weakness: desktop sync is the flakiest of the bunch if you work off local files a lot. **2. Microsoft OneDrive / SharePoint (Microsoft 365)** - If your team already lives in Excel, Word, and Teams, don't fight it. File sharing inside Teams channels is genuinely good, and it's typically the cheapest per seat. Excel in particular is still meaningfully better than Sheets for heavy spreadsheet work. Weakness: the OneDrive/SharePoint/Teams-files distinction confuses people constantly. **3. Dropbox (Business)** - Still the gold standard for sync reliability and speed, which matters if your team works with big local files - video, design assets, CAD, RAW photos. Dropbox Transfer handles sends up to 250GB, which is useful for client delivery. Weakness: you're paying a premium for sync when you probably also pay for Google or Microsoft for docs. **4. Box** - Where I'd go if compliance is the driver: HIPAA, FINRA, granular retention policies, detailed audit trails, legal hold. Strong external-collaborator controls too. Weakness: slower uploads/downloads than the others, and it's overkill for a team of eight. **5. Sync.com** - Worth naming if privacy is a priority. Zero-knowledge, end-to-end encryption by default at a reasonable price, so the provider genuinely can't read your files. Trade-off: you lose the browser-based real-time collaborative editing that makes Google and Microsoft sticky. **6. Egnyte** - The one to look at if you have on-prem infrastructure you can't abandon - a file server in an office, or large media libraries that need local-speed access with cloud sync layered on top. **My honest take:** don't shop for a "file sharing service" separately. Pick Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 based on which office suite your team actually prefers, and only add a second tool (Dropbox for large-asset sync, Box for compliance) if you hit a specific wall. Two overlapping storage tools is how teams end up not knowing where anything is. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
