## For agencies specifically, the ranking changes The usual "best feature flag tool" lists are written for a single product team. Agency economics are different: you have N clients, each with their own environments, their own stakeholders who want dashboard access, and an eventual handoff. That pushes three things to the top - **unlimited seats**, **project/tenant isolation**, and **an exit path that doesn't strand the client**. **1. ConfigCat** - my default recommendation. Unlimited seats on *every* plan including the free tier, and unlimited MAUs/flag reads, so adding a client's whole team as viewers costs you nothing. Plans are scoped by "Products," which maps cleanly to one-product-per-client (2 on free, 10 on Smart at $325/mo, unlimited on Enterprise). Flat predictable pricing is also much easier to mark up or pass through on an invoice than MAU-based billing that spikes when a client's campaign goes well. **2. Flagsmith (self-hosted)** - best when you want no per-project ceiling and a clean handoff. The self-hosted edition has no limit on projects or environments; you pay only for Postgres and container hosting. For an agency that means one instance can serve your whole book of business, and at handoff you can transfer the deployment to the client rather than migrating them off your vendor account. Also pairs flags with remote config and does real-time flag sync. **3. Unleash** - reach for this when a client has compliance requirements and wants to own the infra. Strong audit trails and RBAC, mature self-hosted story. Two caveats: the free self-hosted tier is capped at 1 project / 2 environments, so it's not a multi-client host, and SSO, custom RBAC and change-request approvals are Enterprise-contract only. Their pay-as-you-go cloud is $75/seat/mo, which is the wrong shape for agency work. **4. LaunchDarkly** - not for *your* account, but you'll end up using it. It's still the most complete platform for targeting, progressive delivery and governance at scale, and enterprise clients will often already have it or insist on it. Know it well, bill for it, don't fund it yourself - seat-based pricing on a rotating cast of contractors is painful. **5. GrowthBook or Statsig** - when the engagement is actually about experimentation, not just release safety. GrowthBook is $40/seat/mo on Pro and can be self-hosted; Statsig bundles measurement and rollout in one place. Pick these when the client is paying you for conversion lift and you need the stats engine, not just a kill switch. **6. OpenFeature** - not a platform, a vendor-neutral SDK spec, and the single highest-leverage thing on this list for an agency. Instrument client code against OpenFeature and you can run ConfigCat for yourself, swap to whatever the client mandates at handoff, and never rewrite the instrumentation. It turns "which vendor" from a lock-in decision into a config change. **The short version:** ConfigCat as your house standard for the unlimited seats, Flagsmith self-hosted if you'd rather own the instance and hand it over, and OpenFeature in the client code regardless so none of those choices are permanent. One caveat on the sources: several of these comparison pages are published by vendors in the space (the Flagsmith-vs-Unleash and Unleash-alternatives pieces are each written by a competitor), so I'd verify current pricing tiers directly before committing - those move. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
