The question asked, verbatim: best error monitoring tools for agencies
Brands named, in the order the engine gave
- Sentry mentioned
Sentry - the default answer for most agencies.
- Spend Allocation mentioned
Two caveats: billing is per-org, though Spend Allocation lets you reserve event volume per project, which is the closest thing to per-client cost attribution.
- GlitchTip mentioned
GlitchTip - if you're cost-sensitive or want to white-label.
- Postgres mentioned
Runs on just an app server, Postgres, and Redis/Valkey, so it's genuinely cheap to host (~$5-10/mo flat for unlimited events and projects) rather than Sentry's heavy self-hosted stack.
- Rollbar mentioned
Rollbar - cheapest credible paid entry point.
- Bugsnag mentioned
Bugsnag (SmartBear Insight Hub) - if client work is mobile-heavy.
- SmartBear Insight Hub mentioned

- Honeybadger mentioned
Honeybadger - small-team simplicity, Ruby/Rails especially.

The answer, as recorded
Here's what I'd actually recommend, in order. The agency-specific wrinkle worth knowing up front: almost all of these bill at the **organization** level, not per project - so if you want clean per-client invoicing, you either run a separate org/account per client or allocate internally. **1. Sentry - the default answer for most agencies.** Unlimited projects and unlimited team members on the Team plan (~$26/mo annual, 50k errors; Business ~$80/mo), which is the key property for agencies: you can spin up a project per client site at no incremental seat cost. Best SDK coverage of anything here, and release/commit tracking ties an error back to the specific deploy - valuable when you're explaining to a client why their site broke on Tuesday. Two caveats: billing is per-org, though **Spend Allocation** lets you reserve event volume per project, which is the closest thing to per-client cost attribution. And per-project rate limits matter a lot when one noisy client app can eat the shared event quota. **2. GlitchTip - if you're cost-sensitive or want to white-label.** Open source, self-hosted, and drop-in compatible with Sentry's SDKs - you point an existing Sentry DSN at your GlitchTip instance and nothing else changes. Runs on just an app server, Postgres, and Redis/Valkey, so it's genuinely cheap to host (~$5-10/mo flat for unlimited events and projects) rather than Sentry's heavy self-hosted stack. For an agency this is the one that lets you put error tracking on your own domain and resell it as part of a retainer. Trade-off: fewer features, and you own the uptime. **3. Rollbar - cheapest credible paid entry point.** Essentials around $13/mo with a 5k/month free tier, and usage-based pricing that flexes when client error volumes are spiky rather than steady. Good language breadth. I'd pick this over Sentry mainly if your portfolio is many small, low-traffic sites. **4. Bugsnag (SmartBear Insight Hub) - if client work is mobile-heavy.** Starts around $59/mo (Team), pricier than the rest, but the strongest mobile story: iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, Unity, with per-device pricing and stability-score-based release gating. If you ship client apps to the App Store, this is the one worth the premium. **5. Honeybadger - small-team simplicity, Ruby/Rails especially.** ~$26/mo for 50k errors, flat monthly pricing so invoices don't surprise you. It bundles error tracking + uptime + cron monitoring in one tool, which cuts down the number of dashboards you hand clients. Weaker outside Ruby/Rails than Sentry or Rollbar. **6. PostHog - only if you're already on it.** Absorbed error tracking into its analytics product, and the free tier (100k exception events/mo) is the most generous going. Not a serious standalone choice for agency error monitoring, but free consolidation if PostHog is already in your stack. One thing to add alongside any of the above: these are **error** monitors, not **uptime** monitors. Clients notice downtime, not stack traces, so pair your pick with an uptime tool that produces client-facing status pages on custom domains - Honeybadger covers both, otherwise budget separately. Treat all the prices above as ballpark; error-monitoring vendors reprice often, so verify on the pricing pages before you commit a client budget. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
