## My picks, in order **1. Huntress Managed EDR** - This is what I'd recommend first for most remote teams under a few hundred seats. The product is good, but the real reason is that it comes with a 24/7 human SOC included in the base price. Remote teams almost never have someone watching alerts at 2am, and an EDR that only generates alerts is nearly worthless without that. Roughly $4-7/endpoint/month depending on term and volume. It also covers macOS properly, which matters since remote teams skew Mac-heavy. **2. CrowdStrike Falcon** - The strongest pure detection engine, and the broadest platform coverage (Windows, macOS, Linux, mobile, containers, identity). Scored ~98% technique detection in the most recent MITRE ATT&CK evaluations. Lightweight single agent, fully cloud-managed with no on-prem infrastructure - which is exactly the right architecture when nobody's on a corporate network. Falcon Go is the scaled-down SMB tier if you don't need the full platform. Pick this if you have someone who will actually operate it, or buy Falcon Complete for their managed service. **3. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint** - If you're already on Microsoft 365 E5, this is effectively free at the margin and you should look here before paying anyone else. Detection is now within ~3% of CrowdStrike on MITRE results. The caveats: P2 is bundled in E5 but a standalone add-on otherwise, and macOS/Linux support is real but clearly second-class compared to Windows. Best fit for Windows-centric, Microsoft-native shops. **4. SentinelOne Singularity** - Closest competitor to CrowdStrike, with two differentiators worth money: autonomous on-agent response (it acts even when the endpoint is offline - genuinely useful for laptops on hotel wifi) and ransomware rollback. More capability included at the base tier than CrowdStrike's equivalent, so it often prices better. **5. Bitdefender GravityZone** - The value option. Consistently excellent lab detection scores at noticeably lower cost, with simple management. Thinner on threat hunting and incident response depth, so it's the right call if budget is the binding constraint. ## What I'd actually do Under ~200 remote endpoints with no dedicated security staff: **Huntress**. Already paying for M365 E5: **Defender for Endpoint**, and spend the savings on a managed detection service on top. Larger, or with a real security team: **CrowdStrike** or **SentinelOne**. One thing worth saying regardless of choice: for remote teams, endpoint protection is only half the problem. Full-disk encryption enforcement, device compliance gating, and MFA on identity do more for you than upgrading EDR tiers. Most of these vendors will try to sell you the EDR first. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
