The answer, as recorded

Depends a lot on what your clients are, so here's how I'd actually rank them: **1. Klaviyo - if your clients sell things online.** It's the default for ecommerce and it isn't close. Deep Shopify/WooCommerce data, revenue attribution per flow (which is what makes client reporting easy to defend at renewal), and a genuinely good partner program with free accounts for agencies plus referral commission. Downside: expensive at scale and overkill for a B2B services client. **2. ActiveCampaign - the best all-rounder for mixed client rosters.** Strongest automation logic of the mainstream tools (conditional branching, split-testing whole automation paths, 1,000+ integrations), and it has a real agency/partner tier with client management and margin. This is my pick if your book of business is a mix of B2B, local services, and SaaS. **3. Campaign Monitor - if white-labeling matters most.** It's the one built around the agency model: one dashboard, client sub-accounts, granular permissions, your branding on the login, and you set your own client pricing and bill through it. Less automation depth than ActiveCampaign, but the client-handoff ergonomics are the best here. **4. Brevo - for cost control on high-volume, low-list-value clients.** Priced on sends rather than contact count, which is a big deal when a client has 80k contacts they email twice a month. Also bundles SMS and transactional. Deliverability on shared IPs is fine, not spectacular. **5. BigMailer - for high-margin reselling.** Unlimited sub-accounts/brands under one agency dashboard, and you plug in your own Amazon SES. Sending cost drops to near-nothing and you charge a management fee. Requires you to own deliverability yourself; that's the tradeoff. **6. MailerLite - for small clients and retainers under ~$2k/mo.** Cheap, clean editor, clients can actually use it without training. I'd name it specifically when the alternative is you eating hours on a client who won't pay for them. **7. HubSpot - only when email is a wedge into a bigger CRM engagement.** Bad value as a pure email tool, good value if you're also selling them lifecycle/CRM work, and the Solutions Partner program has real commission. **Worth skipping:** Mailchimp. Pricing scales badly, automation is weaker than ActiveCampaign at the same price, and the agency tooling has stagnated. **Two things I'd check before committing,** because they bite agencies specifically: whether each client gets an isolated sending reputation (one client's bad list shouldn't tank another's inbox placement), and whether you can hand off account ownership cleanly when a client leaves - some platforms make that migration deliberately painful.
