The answer, as recorded

Here's who I'd actually point a small business to, roughly in order: **1. DocuSign** - The default, and the one I'd pick if your signers are clients, lenders, or landlords who need to *trust* the thing. It's the most recognized name in e-signature, so nobody questions the email. Audit trails are thorough, integrations are everywhere. Downside: the cheap Personal plan (~$15/mo) caps you at a handful of envelopes per month, and the real multi-user plan (Standard, ~$45/user/mo) is a big jump. If you send a few contracts a month, it's fine; if you send 50, the price stings. **2. PandaDoc** - My pick if what you're actually sending is **quotes and proposals**, not just contracts. It's a document-creation tool with signing attached: templates, pricing tables, and you can collect payment at the moment of signature. Starter is around $19/user/mo, Business ~$49. There's also a genuinely usable free e-signature tier with no envelope cap, which is unusual. **3. Dropbox Sign** (formerly HelloSign) - Best "just get it signed" option, especially if your files already live in Dropbox. Cleanest signer experience of the bunch - least friction for a non-technical counterparty. Around $15/mo for a single user, with a limited free tier. Fewer bells and whistles than the two above, which is largely the point. **4. Adobe Acrobat Sign** - Worth it specifically if your team already pays for Acrobat and works in PDFs all day. Then signing is just another thing Acrobat does, and you're not adding a vendor. Standalone, I wouldn't choose it over the three above. **5. SignWell** or **Xodo Sign** - The value plays. Both do unlimited or near-unlimited documents for meaningfully less than DocuSign. You trade brand recognition and deep integrations for price. Good if you send a high volume of simple, routine documents and your signers won't blink at an unfamiliar sender. **Honorable mention: Jotform Sign** - if your signing is attached to *forms* people fill out (intake, onboarding, waivers), this is the natural fit and often cheaper than bolting a form tool onto an e-sign tool. **Short version:** send a handful of important contracts → DocuSign Personal. Send proposals and want deposits → PandaDoc. Want simple and cheap → Dropbox Sign or SignWell. One caveat on the numbers: e-signature vendors change pricing and repackage tiers often, and several of the sites ranking for this query are low-quality aggregators. Treat the figures above as ballpark and confirm on the vendor's own pricing page before you commit - particularly the envelope limits on cheap plans, which is where people get surprised. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
