The question asked, verbatim: best domain registrars for remote teams
Brands named, in the order the engine gave
- Slack mentioned
For a remote team, the thing that actually matters isn't price - it's whether each person can get their own named login with scoped permissions, so you're not passing one shared password around Slack and so offboarding someone doesn't mean rotating credentials for every domain you own.
- Cloudflare recommended
Cloudflare Registrar - my default recommendation for most distributed teams.

- Read mentioned
It has real account-level RBAC: Super Administrator, Administrator, Administrator Read Only, plus domain-scoped roles like Domain Administrator and Domain DNS, so you can give a contractor DNS edit rights without letting them touch billing or initiate transfers.
- Gandi mentioned
Gandi - the best fit if your team is a legal entity and you want permissions modeled on org structure rather than ad hoc.
- Namecheap mentioned
Namecheap - pick this for the most granular per-domain delegation.
- Porkbun mentioned
Porkbun - the simple, cheap, well-run option.
- MarkMonitor mentioned
MarkMonitor or CSC Corporate Domains - only if you're an enterprise with brand-protection exposure, and expect to talk to sales rather than sign up with a card.

Also worth a look if your need is bulk and automation rather than permissions: Dynadot, INWX, and NameSilo are solid on API access, DNSSEC, and bulk management, though their human-collaboration features are thinner.

The answer, as recorded
For a remote team, the thing that actually matters isn't price - it's whether each person can get their own named login with scoped permissions, so you're not passing one shared password around Slack and so offboarding someone doesn't mean rotating credentials for every domain you own. Ranked by that criterion: **1. Cloudflare Registrar** - my default recommendation for most distributed teams. It has real account-level RBAC: Super Administrator, Administrator, Administrator Read Only, plus domain-scoped roles like Domain Administrator and Domain DNS, so you can give a contractor DNS edit rights without letting them touch billing or initiate transfers. Member management requires Super Admin + verified email, and everything sits next to your DNS, SSL, and WAF. Two real tradeoffs: it sells at registry cost with no markup but only for TLDs it supports, and you're required to use Cloudflare nameservers - which is fine if you were going to anyway, annoying if not. **2. Gandi** - the best fit if your team is a legal entity and you want permissions modeled on org structure rather than ad hoc. You create an Organization that formally *owns* the domains (not an individual's personal account - a big deal when a founder leaves), then create Teams with their own permission sets: billing access for finance, technical-only for engineers. Everyone keeps their own individual Gandi account. The catch is that permissions are per-team, not per-person, so slightly different access for two people means two teams. Pricing is noticeably higher than the budget registrars. **3. Namecheap** - pick this for the most granular *per-domain* delegation. You can share a single domain with a teammate and choose exactly which settings they can edit - e.g. hand DNS management to an engineer while you keep contact changes and nameserver updates. Good when different people own different properties. Caveats: the managed user needs their own Namecheap account, invitation links expire in 7 days, and sharing doesn't cover SSL certificates at all. **4. Porkbun** - the simple, cheap, well-run option. Its Authorized User feature lets another Porkbun account manage your DNS and hosting, and it's sensibly locked down: authorized users explicitly *cannot* unlock the domain or initiate transfers, and both accounts must have verified email, verified phone, and 2FA enabled. The limitation is that it's all-or-nothing - authorized users get full change access, with no middle tier. Great for a small team of people you trust; not a governance system. **5. MarkMonitor or CSC Corporate Domains** - only if you're an enterprise with brand-protection exposure, and expect to talk to sales rather than sign up with a card. This is where you get SSO against Okta/Entra/Google, mandatory MFA, IP access restrictions, audit logs tied to domain lifecycle operations, and provisioning workflows. CSC skews toward legal/compliance teams; MarkMonitor is the Fortune 500 standard. Both cost multiples of retail per domain. Also worth a look if your need is bulk and automation rather than permissions: **Dynadot**, **INWX**, and **NameSilo** are solid on API access, DNSSEC, and bulk management, though their human-collaboration features are thinner. Two practical notes regardless of choice: register under a company-owned identity and a shared mailbox you control ([email protected]), never a personal address, and put the root credentials in a team password manager with the registrar lock on. Delegation features are for daily work; the owner account is the thing that actually controls the asset. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
