## The short list, in the order I'd actually recommend them **1. Miro** - the default pick for most small businesses. It's the most complete infinite-canvas tool: brainstorming, diagrams, workshops, roadmaps, plus a huge template library and integrations with basically everything (Slack, Jira, Google Drive, Zoom). The free plan gives you 3 boards with unlimited collaborators, which genuinely covers a very small team; Starter is ~$8/user/month annually for unlimited boards and custom templates, Business ~$16 for guest access and SSO. The upgrade path is driven by admin/governance needs, not by locking away core whiteboarding - which is the right shape for a small company. **2. FigJam (Figma)** - the pick if anyone on your team already uses Figma, and a strong pick even if not. It's lighter and faster to learn than Miro, cheaper per seat, and has "open sessions" that let people join for 24 hours without an account - great for client workshops where you don't want to make a customer sign up for anything. Less powerful for complex diagramming. **3. Microsoft Whiteboard** - if you're on Microsoft 365, it's already paid for. Free, simple, integrated into Teams meetings. Nowhere near Miro's depth, but for a 5-person business that mostly needs a shared surface during calls, "free and already installed" beats a fourth subscription. **4. Excalidraw** - my pick for anyone technical or budget-conscious. Open source, free, no account needed to start, hand-drawn aesthetic, genuinely pleasant to use. Excalidraw+ adds cloud storage and team features. The honest limitation: it's a sketching tool, not a workshop platform - no serious template library or facilitation features. **5. Canva Whiteboards** - worth knowing about if your business already pays for Canva for marketing. Whiteboards are included, and you can turn a board straight into a presentation or social asset. Weaker as a pure collaboration canvas, but the design-to-output pipeline is unmatched. **6. Mural** - I'd only recommend it over Miro if you run structured, facilitated workshops as a core part of your business (consultants, agency strategists, trainers). Its facilitation features - timers, private mode, summon participants - are better than Miro's. Its enterprise controls are its other selling point, which is mostly irrelevant at small-business scale. **7. ClickUp Whiteboards** - comes up high in small-business rankings, but mainly because ClickUp is a project management suite that includes whiteboards. If you're already on ClickUp, use them: you can convert sticky notes directly into tasks. I wouldn't adopt ClickUp *for* the whiteboard. ## The one-line version If you have no existing commitments, start free on **Miro** and upgrade when you hit 3 boards. If you're a Figma shop, **FigJam**. If you're a Microsoft 365 shop, try **Microsoft Whiteboard** first before spending anything. Answer Watch records what one AI answer engine said on one date, nothing more. Each page names the engine and the model, carries the date the question was asked, and lists the brands that appeared in the answer in the order the engine gave them, with the sources it cited. It is a measurement, not a ranking, not a recommendation and not a claim about the world. Brands that did not appear in an answer are not named on any public page.
